As you may or may not know, Zune has finally announced its i-pod touch competitor; Zune HD. What do you guys think?

It looks okay and a lot of the things I don’t like look like they will be fixed in the final product. My one problem with it is the screen is smaller than i-touch’s. I’d also want to hear what the speakers sound like.

If it’s hard drive is big enough for my music collection at a reasonable price, sure, I’ll get it. I doubt it’ll be larger then 30 gb though.

Well, some hdd powered mp3 players are only 6 gigs.
Also, I’m not buying a new mp3 player until my sansa c240 stops working, which should be soon, considering I’ve killed and resurrected it dozens of times already.

I respect the zune, it has one feature apple always lacked, an FM radio.
I might actually buy it, if the web browser supports flash 10.
Specs says it goes up to 120 gigs, but it will probably cost a lot to get a 120. I pod touch goes up to 30. Apple=fail. Microsoft FTW.
Edit: just checked on google and the 120 gig option is crossed out, maybe that got canceled, I’ll be pissed if it did.
What’s the point of 6gb HDD when you can have flash at up to 64gb?
It’s HD digital radio. Not FM. But same shit as uses the same frequences.
You wish. To make browser support flash is a cakewalk. By the terms of hardware - it’s imposible. Those little touchscreen motherfuckers (all of them) don’t have enough video/buffer memory to handle it.
Funny how I didn’t mention an Ipod in any of my posts… 
But as we touched that bit. Ipod touch uses flash memory. It lacks the capacity but has no moving parts, thus faster and quiter. Yes HDDs are huge (up to 180 in ipod), but they are meh - vibrating, slow pieces of junk.
I was ranting that there is no point having an HDD less than 30 gb because we already have flash at 32.
I also don’t think the Zune actually uses HDDs. Flash is more likely. So 120gb is really doubtful. That means, impossible. 64gb at max.
And I think I might actually give it a go. Wanna know what all the hype is about. I already don’t like the fugly fonts that cannot even fit on the screen. Useless. Well unless they have an option to change the size.
And wait untill Jobs and co anounces something new on WDC.
EDIT: Just read that it uses flash. So yeah, stop posting bullshit. There is no such thing as 120gb flash drive. 64gb at max. And 64 is very likely since MS would definitely wanna use it as a main argument over Ipod touch.

my nokia 770 has flash 10, and the browser even lets me choose between engines like firefox and opera, but it’s the worst idea ever, the thing runs the debian core, but the cpu is a 220mhz arm, so you can imagine how slow it is.
That’s the problem. Adobe can announce all they want, but until it gets stable and reliable, nobody gonna take it serious. Let it just wait a couple of years.

Note the capacity specs, and look at the one at the end that says 120 gigs, and yes, I know that 120 gigs has been crossed out, but it was crossed out after I made my earlier post. Also, nowhere have I seen that the Zune HD will be flash, I don’t see where you’re getting this idea that it has to use flash.
As for the over-sized fonts, it looks like that is a result of being beta, and I would doubt very much that the finalized product will have the same massive lettering.
I do not believe Microsoft has released any pricing yet.

I was expecting at least 800x480 or 1024x600, my 4 year old nokia tablet has a 800x480 sceen and it’s the same size as an ipod touch. When will the companies learn?

Well in two years, nobody seemed to have a problem with ipod touch.
Know why things get crossed out? Cuz it’s false info aka bullshit.
And 4, 8 ,16, 32, 64 - it’s all standard pattern for flash memory. While HDD always have zeros at the end.
On a side note - even if it’s written 30 gb - it’s really not. You still only get 27,73.
Plus, as I mentioned earlier - those HDDs are nasty vibrating (and slow) pieces of crap. So be thankful they didn’t put 180 gb refrigerator in that thing.

It can handle HD video’s, just not worth playing them on the Zune itself. More like a portable video container.
If I do get one of these, band of brothers in 720p is defs going on there.
Still want to know about battery life, hard drive capacity. Right now it’s a toss up between ipod classic, and this, and if the Zune can’t handle all my music, then I know what I’ll be going for. Also depends on if my ipod dies before this thing comes out.
