I was curious how the gravity gun is supposed to work in the real world (in a scientific sense) so I looked up Zero Point Energy. I got a few hits, but I still don’t know what it’s supposed to be and do. Help?:what:

How about using your brain. Okay, zero point energy…think about that. It must pull an object until the object it is holding does not have its own field of gravity. Obviously, the gravity gun uses a magnetic field much like a compass. The gravity gun generates its own field of gravity, a gravitational field that will pull close objects to it, much like a meteor to the planet earth. But of course, the earth cannot aim around and pick targets…the gravity gun can be picked up and pointed at objects thus pulling objects towards it.

Basically, zero-point energy is when atoms have no energy at all and so are completely still. A zero-point energy field would be an area of no energy. This means that if you can create a quantum link/portal between the two areas with zero energy, the quantum leap would be perfectly safe. The problem is how to ‘designate’ two areas to create the quantum link between.

Well, like I was saying about meteors…instead of the object flying at gordon freeman and breaking the gravity gun, it impacts a zero point energy shield, like a meteor impacting the earth’s surface. I think by zero point it means that the earth’s gravity has 0 effect as well since the gravity gun has taken complete control of the object’s gravity until the object is launched. Obviously, the energy shield is invisible. Except for the particles that are used to generate it. The gravity gun is not anti-mass I don’t think.

I am guessing the reason the gravity gun cannot pick up heavy objects is because the object’s mass or size is too large for the field to envelope or encompass the object.
Simple explanation: Black magic.
Long explanation: It does something like the mass effect fields in Mass Effect, using some form of energy to cancel the mass of the object it is used on, and then uses an artificial gravity field to move the object around. Just a guess.
