Definitely not my longest but still looks likes it’s gonna be kinda time consuming. I think my biggest download was 10.5 gigs.

The Force Unleashed has got to take the cake. Shit is 25 gb believe it or not. It’s like they just copied the contents from the PS3 blu-ray version and put the Windows binaries.

Back when Dial-Up was the best available, my phone line would drop the internet connection every time a call comes in and my parents didn’t have cell phones so the line was busy most of the day. Anyway, it took me 4 months to download a 700mb movie.
These days, an 8GB 1080p BDRip takes me about 2 hours to download.
In about 10 years time, we’ll all be laughing at the time when we spent more than an hour to download anything, what with our cheap 100 Gigabit wireless internet connections.
Probably a Doom II mod that I got way back when.
28.8 kbps dial up modem + 50 MB = hours.
I haven’t tried to download anything over 2 gigs at home like, ever. I’ve gotten a few of my larger Steam games at work, but that doesn’t count because the connection easily blows my home connection away. (less than an hour for everything so far, biggest games would probably be TF2 and UT3)
Too bad it will be as thus:
Facebook: 10 mbps
Youtube: 50mbps
Google Apps: 100mbps
Rest of the Internet: 5mbps
Illegal stuff: 1mbps when you’re lucky

I once torrented all 7 seasons of a show I wanted to watch (about 42.5 GB ) on a high-speed cable connection (read: 50 kbps download speed). Took about a month, as I recall. Never tried to download anything on dial-up when we had that, since we only had the one phone line. Nowadays I’ve got Clear 7mbps service, so I usually only have to wait for a download overnight at the most.

*I know for a fact there is 1 seeder present (occasionally) so it’s not entirely pointless
*I can’t bring myself to bother with the rapidshares, not for this anyway.
I downloaded Left 4 Dead 2 in steam for 18 fucking hours straight and I can’t even play any steam games or else the download will pause! I left it for about 8 hours.
That’s why you alt-tab out and resume the download.
