the half life series, doom 3, and portal
“The Ship” was the first game that required me to install steam.
“The Orange Box” was the first game I actually purchased through steam.
Half-Life 2 w/ Garry’s Mod
Got them both off of Steam.
Boy did my Geforce 8600 fail at the Source engine.
I got like 30 FPS. That’s not bad, but it’s not a pleasant gaming experience for me.
I get 60 fps with my new card.
I was under the impression that no one played this game.
first game i ever registered was regular CS when steam first came out, but after i registered it my computer was unable to handle steam and cs open at the same time so needless to say my first steam impression was pretty annoying. first game i paid for on it was HL2
Games: Half-Life 2 Collectors Edition(Half-Life 2, Half-Life 2:deathmatch, CSS, Half-Life Source)
When: November 16th, 2004
How: $74.99(?)
Games: TF2 + Gmod!
When: A little after I got crysis (but thats not on steam).
How: In one pack, by steam (duh).
Counter Strike Source some years ago.
The Valve Premier Pack, for free. it was with an ATI card someone bought and he only wanted the card, so he gave me the voucher.
After that, the first thing I actually paid for was SiN Episodes: Emergence, which I bought retail for $20. My first actual Steam purchase was the ID Super Pack for $63.
The first game I ever recorded was when regular steam CS first came out, but after I registered my computer was not able to process steam and cs open at the same time, so of course, my first impression was of steam pretty boring. The first game I paid it was HL2
Those entries are weirdly similar.
And you’d be right. Haven’t touched it in years, and only played it for about a month.
It’s an interesting concept, but the game doesn’t keep attention very long and still feels very bland and empty after very few games.
what is the value in knowing what was the first steam game someone else played?
shorter: what is the point of this thread exactly?
I’ll soon make a thread “what is your favorite color?”
This is exactly how I got Steam, except even after Steam came out I still bought everything retail. My first Steam purchase was Audiosurf in 2008.
My first Steam game (pack) would be the Half-Life 2 Holiday 2006 pack. Before that I used my uncle’s son’s Steam account
I had Half-Life retail, but I lost the damn box so I couldn’t activate it in Steam. :fffuuu:
Pfft. Buzzkiller.
I got Episode 1 from Media Play. Weird cause i didnt even know there was a episode 1 at the time lol.
Oh, and it came with Garrys Mod and Lost Coast.
I never played any steam games beside CSS. I remember when this first came out… I always meant to try and play it but never got around to it…
The Orange Box, sometime in 2009
Wanted CS:S so I bought the HL2 bundle in 2004.
