Your First Steam Game(s)

What was the first ever game your purchased for Steam and when? Also if you want to you can include how you got it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Game(s) - The Orange Box
When - July 2009
How - Retail £14.99

Thought I’d get to know some people a little better.

Portal - don’t remember when.
bought it in a retail store

TF2

Half Life 1. Got it for the 10 year anniversary sale. That was merely the beginning of my decent into game sale madness.

Do you mean the first game we’ve bought in Steam or the first game we’ve bought that we could register on Steam?

Well, the first game I’ve bought in Steam was Sin 2 (Episode) and the first game I registered on Steam was HL1 GOTY.

HL2DM/Lost Coast/Portal demo bundle FOR FREE!!! Yay! Didn’t use Steam until then.

First game I bought on Steam was L4D. Then I discovered the HL games and my whole life changed.

Either one, whichever was first.

Not your Half-Life?

Half-Life 2
(don’t remember when)
Inherited my dad’s Steam account.
the first I purchased for steam Was Orange Box.
Was, is, and always fucking will be one of the best deals in videogame History.

Bought Half-Life 2 from Staples as my first M-rated game, and thought the concept of Steam was interesting. After that, my first Steam-bought game was the Half-Life 1 anthology (kinda thinking it would explain HL2’s holes. It didn’t)

Sadly, it was Counter-strike: Source

I was pretty stupid to buy this piece of junk in the first place

Half-life 2 as a gift from my friend nearly 2 years ago

The Orange Box followed by the Counter-Strike: Anthology box.

Half Life 2

I think it was Counter strike: Condition Zero.
Can’t remember when it was though, but it was sometime around when it was pretty new.

It had to be done.

Half-Life 2. Bought it retail.
Actually bought it before I bought a computer that could run the game sufficiently at the time.
But I just had to have it in my shelf looking down on me wondering why I wasn’t playing it yet. Maybe I’m masochistic.

First game I bought on Steam was Day of Defeat Source. Awesome shooter.

First steam game? HL2 and (God help me) CSS. Though i didn’t actually buy them, it came as a free bundle with my old nvidia gforce 6800 gt.

My first real purchase was Gmod

First game i registered on steam was HL1, i was surprised that it gave me everything else like CS, TFC, OP4, and BS. Played them for a while and realized that i hated steam for hl1, so i installed hl1 from the original CD, get the 1.1.1.0 patch and play the original, courtesy of SIERRA. Plus i use GCFScape to extract OP4 and blue shift so i can play them in the original. I don’t like being forced online to play sp games.

You could always do offline mode. But yeah, it’s a bit of a pain.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
