Your first "first person shooter"

CounterStrike, sometime in the early 2000s. Can’t remember exactly.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2.

That gaem is teh shit lulz it’s b3tt3er than teh half lief series ever will be!11!1. My mom bought it tw1ce!1!

guess it was HL1 back in 1999

Another one for the Doom demo back in the mid 90’s.

I can’t recall, Duke Nukem 3D or Turok. I was very young.

I can’t remember… Probably HL1, but I’m sure there was something before that.

Actually, it may have been the MGS1 demo that came with Teken 2 for PS1

Neither of which are first person shooters.

I didn’t think that it was an FPS, that is why i said No.

Doom on a friend’s computer, I was so blown away I didn’t know what to think or how to feel! I had only played a couple nes and maybe snes games until then, and to think there’s a whole other world of video games, filled with violence and 3d movement and monsters, etc., I was just amazed. It took probably 3-5 years before I played any other fps games (Turok at a friend’s house), because my mom was one of those parents that abhors violence in any way shape or form. And now I’m a Valve geek

Please climb into the nearest running wood chipper in an attempt to save humanity.

Oh no, James Bond: Nightfire or whatever it was called was my first FPS game.

Then why ask? Obviously is isn’t an FPS.

Descent.

I was going to say Metroid Prime. That’s the one that got me back into FPS gaming. But then:

I had totally forgotten about both of those. Great games, even if ChexQuest was a complete Doom ripoff. I’m sure my first FPS was one of these two, but I can’t remember which one was first. I think it was Descent, because I didn’t play Chex Quest until my dad had bought the family a brand new Gateway machine with Windows 3.11. I remember thinking it was awesome at the time, because unlike our old DOS computer, it came with speakers.

I think I might actually still have the Descent disc in a pile of CDs around here somewhere… I should pop it in and try it out on DosBox one of these days, for old times’ sake. :3

+1 for an awesome game though.

Dark Forces back in the mid 90’s. Then Jedi Knight in 1998 was my next shooter. I was completely blown away by Jedi Knight’s graphics at the time, and it’s still one of my favorite games. Hence why I’m remaking it on a newer engine. :awesome:

Doom 1

If memory serves me well, that would be Wolf3D when I was 10-11 at the school’s computer.

First FPS I personally owned myself was Unreal, then HL.

Doom or Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. I can’t remember which cam first for me.
