While it’s extremely likely that life exists elsewhere in the universe, the idea that they’d travel to earth is frankly laughable. Yes, life probably exists elsewhere, but the likelihood of it occurring near earth is still tiny. Further, the cost of travelling such a distance would be phenomenal, even if we assume they’re advanced enough to travel FTL (which is a massive assumption). If a race somewhere in the universe advanced in a similar enough way to be able to develop such technology, it seems rather bizarre that they would go to such much effort only briefly interact with earth.
On top of that, why are there so many apparent traces? If they wanted to be hidden, at their level of technology I’d assume that would be incredibly easy. If they didn’t care, we’d see a lot more of them. This middle ground situation seems rather unlikely.
you’re right - the idea that extraterrestrial life operates within the same paradigm as human life does (biological organisms traveling between stars via some kind of newtonian propulsion in an enclosed airtight vehicle) is extremely unlikely. That isn’t to say that conspiracy theories about the President signing a treaty with “Greys” are not amusing.
No, you misunderstand. I’d imagine that there are other forms of alien life that have reached similar levels of technology, given how many planets must be able to support life, so I’m not saying space travel hasn’t or isn’t happening elsewhere in the cosmos.
Also, yes, the Greys things tickle me greatly, but not quite as much as the guy earlier in the thread who said the Titanic never sunk.
