Your favorite Boss battle?

Boss battles. A staple of video games since Mario Bros. on the NES starting with King Koopa. But since then there have been many, many more Boss battles to be had. Good ones are memorable, epic, and just plain awesome. So what’s your favorite boss?

Mine would have to be Metal Gear Rex vs Ray in MGS4. I mean wow. Holy fuck. Everything about this boss battle SCREAMS balls to the wall epic. The story behind it, the setting, the environment, the mechs, and the characters in both of them. This was just orgasmic to play for the first time. Hell, any time really. The sound of metal shredding metal, explosions everywhere, debris flying off of buildings as they are blown apart in the crossfire of an epic battle. All climaxing with one of the best cut-scenes in Metal Gear history.

TL;DR:

God damn this is good.

Mine would have to be the final boss battle on Metroid Prime 3: Corruption, i mean, it is hectic, crazy, and most importantly: FUN. I usually find boss battles to be frustrating, but this one was different.

People like you make me really dislike anybody who uses “epic” as an adjective, even if it is one.

The best boss fight is against Destroyman in NMH

diablo 2 bosses are mine.

Fighting Ganon in all of his various forms at the end of Twilight Princess - horseback combat, Ganon in pig form and finally fighting him with swords in 3D… everything I’ve been hoping for since I first fought Ganon!!

god of war series have some really awesome boss fights.
i for one love nihilanth battle because its so vanilla ^^

Probably the final battle of DMC 3 Special edition. I thought it was pretty awesome.

TF2’s Headless Horseless Horsemann!

My favorite of all time is probably Flash Man from Mega Man II

There is actually a very few games that have a final boss that pleases me. Otherwise really good games have disappointed me with a way too hard or repetitive boss battles. For example in Mass Effect 1 and 2 the final bosses were nothing really special in my opinion. They were just way too long and repetitive. But don’t get me wrong, both of the endings were freaking EPIC (c wut I did thar?), I just disliked the battles.

One of my few favourites is maybe the one in Modern Warfare 1. Although it was scripted as shit and you didn’t get to do basically anything by yourself, it was still extremely pleasing to shoot that one-armed dude right in the face after dealing with the guards. And it all happened in just a few seconds.

Aquaria: the Golem is the second-to-last boss fight of the game (not counting the optional side ones, and the fact that the final boss has 5 different forms). The music is pretty powerful here, and its pace seems to fit so well. The golem pauses between attacks, but each one is pretty sudden, and require you to react very quickly. The game of course has plenty of good boss fights, but this one was the one awesome enough to make me keep a save game just before it.

San Andreas also had a pretty cool ending fight. The last mission was almost unnecessarily long, but it was fun most of the way, and made that latter portions pretty tense. It basically goes ‘shootout to the top of a fortress’ - ‘shootout with a boss who wears body armor’ - ‘shootout down to the bottom of the fortress, while time-limited because it’s exploding’ - ‘chasing a firetruck through the whole city while the entire population tosses molotovs around’ - ‘rail-shooting mission to defend your car (while another guy drives)’

Yeah, compared to most Zelda bosses which just require you to hit the sweet spot X times, that fight was pretty epic… Actually, all the sword fights were pretty epic in that game.

Desann in Jedi Knight II was pretty damn fun.

Gary Oak :fffuuu:

Sephirot on FFVII!! i loveee this gameeee!!
And Ninja Gaiden 2 last boss the three bosses!!

Dagon from, “Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth.”

Sigma from Megaman X4.

Diablo from diablo II

The Boss from MGS3

hmmm… My favorite Boss battle?
Champion Blue (Gary motherfucking Oak) In Pokemon Blue version. Sure, I surf-spammed his ass into oblivion back in the day, but AI was, to say the very least, Primitive back in those days. If I were to try that on Pokemon LeafGreen version, I’d probably get my ass handed to me.
