"X reminds me of Half Life 2"

Alright, here is a new thread about it.

Now I’ve titled this in a specific way, because for me there is not really anything in Half Life 2 that feels particularly familiar to me, and yet there are lots of things that I find just wondering around life in general that strongly reminds me of Half Life 2. Anyone else get this? Do you get this for other games too?

Discuss.

There’s a place in the outskirts of London that reminded me of a small part of Route Kanal. Could’ve been a nice place to make a Half-Life 2 Live Action Shortfilm.

here’s an obvious one…every time I see a crowbar

There is this semi-industrial area south of Seattle, in a town called “South Park” (yeah, I know), that has businesses that reminded me a lot of certain parts of HL2.

Here’s a Street View map of one part of this area. Spin around this area and move about in it and tell me you DON’T get a HL2 vibe from this area.

Okay. I don’t get a HL2 vibe from it.

You don’t even know, man. I walked through this area before and I was imagining a headcrab popping out from between stacks of pallets.

The bus garage near here is straight out of the rebel bases in Episode 2. Gritty, dirty, old equipment and junk everywhere…

There’s some kind of factory near where I live that I drive by to go to the mall, reminds me a lot of HL2 and STALKER.

The wealth of abandoned industrial areas along the Jersey coast in the height of Fall.

Good idea.
I think a number of us have seen areas in real life that made us thing of HL, at least it’s happened to me a few times.
How about instead of just talking about it, you have posters actually give us photos of things that they’ve run across?

How about it guyz (girlz)?

Show us some photos of places you’ve actually been to that look like they could be from HL!!

Daniel, I can definitely see that, for sure.

I agree CPU, I’ll try and get some pics of some places here that are half life esque, the funny thing for me is that alot of times, it’s the cold weather and smells that can make a place feel like half life, which makes absolutely no sense at all I’m sure.

That may even be better. It would be great to hear how the sights, smells and ambiance brings a real life area to (Half) life for someone!

That was pretty good. You get a prize for posting the first actual image!

It feels more Half-Life like when you’re actually there. It’s hard to describe.

I always felt that HL2 takes place in the autumn. Probably due to all the jacket wearing and such.

I see it! 100%!

This isn’t a place, per-se, but whenever I see a ladder attatched to the side of a building, and it has one of those metal guards around it, it makes me think of Half-Life in general. I dunno why…

somebody took my wolfenstien post too seriously…

but i can say that the bridge point level in hl2 has to be the most magical moments in hl2 (and makes me want to walk around underbridges while trains roll above

Children of Men reminds me of HL2 quite a bit.

I suppose Half-Life 1 counts as well? I’ve been to a factory that looked a lot like the industrial areas of Black Mesa.

I rather not post pictures of my apartment, you would notice a striking resemblance to the Rebel’s.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
