WTF is Halo Reach?

Because then it would disprove the notion that the internet is full of unreasonable, disagreeable trolls.

And when this happens, this goes directly against a decree from God, and the world will be unmade in an instant!

Because both suck in some way.
Halo: Only on Xbox
Half Life 2: poor world design.

But I love both stories although I could never finish the fight with Master Chief.

:expressionless: wtf. did you play half-life 2 or halo. becuase half-life 2 had a wonderful world design. halo’s on the otehr hand kinda sucked it was all bridges over bottomless pits and repeated closed in hallways.

And Halo was on the PC as well, it was a shitty port, however. Inversely, Half-Life 2 was ported to the Xbox, terribly as well.

Actually, Half-Life 2 was ported to Xbox on the OB engine.

With less glitches than the OB port they have now.

he means the original port for the original xbox.

also I don’t hate Halo I just don’t think its a wonderful game. Its the kind of game you can pick up and play easily with a group of friends when bored. Kinda like TF2 (except TF2 is more awesome) is on steam but on the xbox.

God damn, Perky! Now I read all your posts with the Old Spice Man’s voice.

I recall an hour or two of the most fun I have ever had from a multiplayer game… Surprisingly, it was from Halo for Mac running LAN in our school’s Mac lab. Of course, we were supposed to be finishing our animations and portfolios, so inevitably Halo was considerably more fun that doing that. Unfortunately we only had a demo version so it was CTF / team deathmatch on Blood Gulch with endless hilarity; me being one of the best with the sniper rifle (with an equal match on the opposite team, of course), racking up a full set of ammo worth of kills there and then grabbing shotty+rocket launcher combo and going on a rampage in the enemy base.

IMHO Halo 1 was the best Halo. It’s been kinda downhill from there but I stopped following it after Halo 3, so don’t know about anything beyond that.

I had lotsa fun putting my own touches into the original PC (actually, Mac) Halo.

Also, mucking around with/swapping projectile properties. One of the few things better than pummeling your foes with HOMING BULLETS from the assault rifle, is launching wraith mortars instead of assault rifle rounds

The demo also had this annoying “BUY THE DAMN GAME” speech in a video when quitting the game. This happened to be done by a simple reference to a .mov file… so I promptly replaced it with the noscope song for no reason whatsoever.

dat ghost…

…is win.

Also just to be clear, I think halo one is a fabulous game (epically custom edition). On my list of games everyone should play in their life is Halo1 on the original xbox, system linked playing a system vs system match.

Like Perky said, it was ported to the original Xbox and released exactly a year after the PC version was released, on the original Source engine, with the graphics downscaled, and the maps smaller, just like the Doom 3 port. It also had major framerate issues, just like the Doom 3 port.

On a positive note, it did help Valve optimize the engine for the PC version.

This is probably my strongest memory from playing Halo 1 at a friends house, even without the stickman it’s awesome.

Which brings me to a question, and i will say that i haven’t really played any of the halo games properly or payed any attention to the storyline, but has there been a halo game since the first that has actually been set on a Halo?

Halo 2 had a chapter set on another Halo.

Dunno about Halo 3.

Gotta love the giant thong in the sky.

He’s HALO REACHIN’ for it!

Hatcha-cha-cha-cha-cha!!

I thought Black Mesa was the most anticipated game of 2010.

Oh wait, that’s 2011.

Half of Halo 3 is set on earth, a third is set on the Ark (star shaped halo bscly) the…rest is on an incomplete remade halo from the first game. Probably for no reason other than nostalgia.

I dislike halo mainly because it seems to take itself too seriously.

The first one was alright, not amazing but a fun game to play. Second one seemed the same with new paint and some new features (hijacking + dual wielding) The 3rd one - meh same, and this one? sounds like meh + battlefield 2 combined with tribes + MW2 meshup(dont quote me on MW2 part, maybe very little) except on a smaller scale. Halo could be okay, but it copies too much.

And the part about the first statement i made - I can NOT and i repeat, can not take a game seriously when the aliens are little things with triangular backpacks sticking out saying “F*** you” constantly. They are all just too cartoon like, and too different looking to even make sense - (unless they are just a mesh up of a bunch of alien races i guess). And they are like the main enemy in the games. The flood are okay, but again, copies of many things, and fighting them was a bit too repetitive.

I consider crysis to be a pretty good game, but i hate the alien parts, and even though they sucked, i would still rather fight aliens that look and act differently than humans then an alien which is a slightly bigger human that looks like it has 8 different mouths and speaks english in a deep voice and yells alot.

Frankly though, there are better games then crysis, and there are certainly better games then the halo franchise.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
