World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor

time travel is laaaaammeeeee

Time-travel has been part of Warcraft for quite a while now, for many many years exactly, weird people noticed it just now with this expansion and started complaints.

Good point, but this is a direct change in the timeline. It always irritates me when writers muddle about with directly changing the timeline in a fixed setting instead of only exploring different possibilities of what could have been.

cinematic trailer looks cool though

It doesn’t change the timeline, the past Draenor is of alternate universe, not them coming back in time to their own past changing future events, erasing the present, no such thing. The history as known (Warcraft > Mists of Pandaria) is intact.

Just 2 universes have been connected together, one is the present Azeroth and the other 35 years back AU Draenor.

That’s interesting but not the direction I think people wanted the series to go

The last expansion was about anthro pandas. I don’t think time travel is an especially odd direction to go.

Besides, the expansion seems to be less about the actual time travel and more just about being set on Draenor.

Cataclysm was already about timetravel, getting Demon Soul from the past in order to use it against Deathwing. Even TBC and WOTLK had their share. Caverns of Time anyone? Nozdormu pretty much exists across past, present and future and in all possible realities/outcomes as well.

Also Broxigar traveled back in time to War of the Ancients to pwn Sargeras.
So pretty much nothing new.

Listing all the Lords of War episodes released so far. Even those who aren’t Warcraft fans should take their time to watch them, they are masterfully done.

The gameplay and content (rather lack thereof) of the expansion itself are very lackluster imo, but the lore is better than ever, even if it’s just an alternate version of past Warcraft lore.

More goodies. Warning, spoilers ahead:
