You know (and I am not saying this to be callous) but it was a thing that happened in the past. I agree: it was damn messed up to be certain, and it was a cruel thing to do to anyone or any group of people, but every time something comes up that has some form of symbolism that relates to the Nazi’s, it doesn’t need censored. To be honest, it just doesn’t make any sense to me to do this, because doing this just prolongs the effects of the Holocaust and Nazi Regime farther along than it needs. It’s like they’re just putting band aids over the wound while it slowly suffocates and festers, while it really just needs to air out and become a learning experience versus a taboo don’t-mention-it-or-die kinda deal. That’s my opinion on the whole thing.
If they feel that censoring it helps, then so be it. I see it as wrong to keep it as a hush-hush thing. Not that I think that the German people ARE shoving it away, I just think that the rate of censorship on the topics is a bit over-the-top.
Edit: I see it as kinda like American slavery. We did it. We did it for a century. But we don’t try and shove it away, we try to make amends and try to learn from it, so that it won’t happen in future generations. Not that I think German people and their government ARE shoving it away in all forms, I just find the censorship of the media to be a little over-the top.
