Windows 8

I don’t think you’re at all informed on the facts. PC gaming isn’t going anywhere; consoles bang the drums louder, but its a fact that PCs are still very much a defining staple of the genre.

PCs have one MASSIVE advantage over everything else; you’ve already got one. You NEED a computer to live in a First-World country; not having one is social, economic and political suicide. You can’t live, work or engage without at least one type of electronic device, and that device is almost always a computer. The advantage is that, since you’ve already got your email computer, you can put games on it no problem without having to buy any more hardware to make it run. Its never too pretty, but it’ll work.

For consoles, you have to buy an EXTRA computer that does NOTHING for you but play games. That means that gaming companies have to make you WANT to buy a console, but they don’t need to make you want to buy a PC; you’ve already got one.

Meh, it’ll all converge to a point where we’re all confused about how we got on so long without it being exactly the way it is at the time. I can’t even remember how I lived without my iPhone, and I only got that about 6 months ago. Society rarely develops in a way that makes things work for us LESS, and I’m entirely confident that this trend will continue for gaming.

PC gaming won’t die until PCs die, as long as there is an audience to tap devs will keep making products for it. However just because desktops die doesn’t mean that the experience of PC gaming will die. What makes PC gaming great to me is that its an open platform, where no one can shove requirements on people. This allows for mods, advanced tech, free online and all the great things about PC gaming.

So even in the future if you can only get windows on a tablet, there will still be an open platform experience there because I don’t think windows will ever stop being an open platform.

But seriously the only reason it seems to be that you guys don’t think that desktops and keyboards will die is because you don’t want to accept it. You’re afraid of change and when your afraid of change in something so meager as a keyboard that’s kinda sad.

Jesus, we’re talking about technology that most people over 30 can’t even use. Could we adopt it slightly more before we already start talking about getting rid of it?

Most people over forty (also I hope you mean 40 instead of 30 because otherwise that’s a pretty off statement there) can’t even use a fucking computer so I don’t see how older generations of people matter in this subject.

Edit: Meh I’m done with this. You guys just can’t face it, the only reasons you seem to think desktops and keyboards are sticking around is “I don’t like it” or “I can’t use it right”. Take a serious look at consumer needs, costs of production, demand and accessibility and come back to me about how desktops and keyboards will never die.

So basically, desktops and keyboards will die, but not in a very long time.

The fact is, even if touch screens and the like replace keyboards and mouse as the prime way of dealing with a pc, it doesn´t mean they´ll go completely, just on a secondary plane, hell, when is the last time you used a floppy? Yet you can still buy a new floppy drive.

^I already made a point about typewriters. Also, people still use pen and paper and actually write physical letters.
Lastly, the reason why you are so fixated to mouse+keybard is beyond me.
It’s fairly obvious that there is a lot of room for improvement and innovation within the input method department.

You all realize the Keyboard+Mouse, is already being fazed out. Its called “Speech to text”. Its only been around for about 7-8 years. But it is amazing. I use it myself. I control everything my computer does by talking to it. Accept for when I play games obviously. The touchscreen is a gimmick. Nothing more. Although, you can mix the two and you would have it made for normal everyday applications. And yes i’m sorry to say, but gameing is moving away from the PC, and going to the consoles. That is the facts life. Get over it or don’t.

I can talk faster than I type…

No, it isn’t.

You’ve got a solid point there, I suppose as things change we will adapt to the change and gaming along with it, I guess the reason I don’t like this idea is because I’m all ready so fond of the current technology and what comes with it.
Mouse and keyboard defines pc gaming, and in that aspect i can’t really see a lot of room for improvement, maybe the mobility such as a tablet with similar controls, but for me the current input method is un-beatable.

+1

You’re too fucking dumb to bother replying too. You don’t even properly address half the stuff I said, so I won’t address your shit.

You’re so cool.

And Another meltdown. Surprise.
But hey, bailout granted. Just don’t bother showing your dumb face around here.

I’m afraid, you’re fucking stupid.

PC Gaming is not possible on a touch screen until we have a device better for reflexes and reaction time than a mouse.

Touch interfaces are not that. Mind control is the next best goddamn thing besides virtual reality, and when we get mind control games will be boring as shit because it’s way too easy to just think something. In lamens terms just for you, shit ain’t goin nowhere.

y u so fixated to pc gaming?

Superior niches will always hold influence so long as there are people to fill them.

EDIT: Stress on PC gaming being a SUPERIOR niche. I can go into detail on this if I have to, but being on these forums show you know that deep down inside.

Talk fast to speech recognition, you’ll see it doesn’t work well.
