yeah, It’s a strange thing with steam.
A friend has any game on steam uncut, he had to e-mail steam too for L4D but the Orangebox worked fine uncut without e-mailing.
And as I mentioned before, some orangeboxes bought in Germany get uncut without any reason, like mine.
In the next time I want to buy L4D, maybe I have to e-mail them too, but maybe not,
we’ll see.
Interessting… That raises the question how it’ll be for me when I get EP3
To remove the low violence, try deleting or moving low violence.cfg from the TF2 folder. I’m not even sure it’s there, I just read it on the internet.
TF2 will redownload the low violence.gcf
Well, I bought HL 2 (for German market) when it came out back in 2004. It was not censored and it is still uncut. But I heard that versions sold or registered after 1. September 2005 have been censored. So there is some mechanism that detects when you registered a specific Product and where (country) that Product has been sold.
So, why is my Episode 1 uncut then? Steam had all the uncut files needed stored in the GCF-Files of the English version. All I needed was GCFScape to extract and place them in the correct directory. But as the German voice synchronisation isn’t that good (there are translation errors and they sounds like every Character in the game was translated by someone else while the voice actors where only aware of their own text and not knowing about the rest of the dialogue spoken by someone else. Example from HL 2: Person 1: “They don’t have a Reason to come to our place!” Person2: “Don’t worry they find one”. and the Re-Translated version: Person 1: “What reason they might have to come here?” Person 2: “Don’t worry they find one”. There is more of things like this up to Episode 2) I switched steam to english anyway (oh, and because of SvenCoop 4 - for some reason you find yourself in a reconnection loop when trying to join a server when steam is set to German)
And Episode 2/rest of the Orange Box? Ordered from UK and registered while Steam was set to English because someone told me the German DVD versions don’t contain the uncut files and they will not download them. The only thing censored is Team Fortress 2 - but only during that birthday event. Then I see not only the Balloons and stuff from that event, but the gibs are replaced with the censored ones (screws, rubber ducks, etc…) and all mixed up with normal red blood. It is like half uncensored/censored when that happens…
That’s the party mod, it’s the same everywhere and is awesome. Our clan switche it on whenever it’s someone from the clan’s birthday.
The Party-mod turns that event on all the time - I know. But that is happening on any server when the time has come - with or without the mod. But the point is: Instead of bones and Skulls I see gearwheels, Rubber ducks, metal springs and other things during that event. That is like in the censored version.
I thought that Party event only adds the balloons, partysounds,… and does not replace Bones with metal parts… If it does that means that the “censored content” is recycled and being used during “party”…
I bought the Orange Box three weeks ago on Steam. Half-Life 2 and Episode 1 were uncut, but Episode 2 and Team Fortress 2 were cut (I guess Portal too, but didn’t try it out yet). Day Of Defeat: Source was never cut, although I bought it here in Germany… I have no clue how it is handled, but I wish I could just send a scan of my ID to Valve, so they see I’m older than 18 and therefore can legally own the uncut versions. On the other hand, the censorship in HL2 and the Episodes is not as bad as it is in HL1. I should just stop bothering :fffuuu:
No wait, you’re right I was just confused.
HL2 and EP1 were never cut. Only the German Xbox360 OB Version.
And for the detection: The “CD-Key” contains Information about the Land, where you bought it.
EDIT: for the germans, here is a nice site about cutted movies, comics, games and such: https://www.schnittberichte.com/
Ok… here:
I had enough luck to get this picture for you InGame…
P.S.: This was a heavy (minigun)…
I hope my import will come soon :’(
Isn’t it easier to change the region settings in steam and redownload TF2 for free?
Nope… u cant do anything…
No “language = English”
No “download region = UK”
But you can:
But i hate it to make this everyday and so I wait for my Import to ask
the SteamSupport for uncutting my games
Personally I think this no-gore thing in germany is a joke, in L4D the ‘forced no-violance’ thing merely disable the headshot explosion. That’s it. And I’ve heard from a friend that if you change the language from german to something else then the restriction is no longer in effect.
That’s a lot of hamburgers.
wrong.
It’s everything that heavy ate before the fight.
Yeah, that explains it. He even ate a metal coil spring and a rubber ducky :fffuuu:
Mhm, high protein diet. Ask Kaze
that cut stuff must be highly annoying… I’d get a new account created with a fake country address (lets say england) and then I’d buy games Over steam instead of in a german box.
