The games don’t take into account that
There is no dynamic day/night cycle, so devs make the most of what they have to work with
Developers are not always informed as to which part of their level appears ingame
Freeman needs to take breaks and power naps between killing zombies also to eat food
Freeman doesn’t talk so there is no point in conversing with people you meet
And anyway some mornings it gets light really fast.
I wish time could move faster here in Black Mesa universe
I’m going to have to agree with OP about time in the half life series. I once stood outside in HL2 for 34 hours and it was day the entire time. Very disappointed. I hope that Valve, whatever game they’re making right now, do not make the same mistake, and if they do, that they get rid of that game immediately. I don’t know what got into their minds, whether they were drunk or sleepless, they definately messed up.
Sheesh people! Why is it so important or there to be a day/night cycle?! JUST ENJOY THE GAME!
damn! and I thought my watch was running behind again… whew!!! glad y’all cleared that up… dumb shits!!!
Stop bitchin’ about things like this dude…
Jeez guys, the answer is obvious.
It is because Valve figured that players would move through the world of Half-Life at the same speed Gabe Newell moves up a flight of stairs.
This is migraine inducing.
What a thread – jeez.
You know, I never really noticed all of this before. Just think how people must really get confused about day and night in a two hour movie (especially if it spans over a few decades).
Does it really matter how fast time passes? If you had fun playing that’s all that mattered.
And another thing! When you place a grenade in the middle of a room with cement walls and crates of explosives, when the grenade goes off and the crates explode, not only does it just smudge the walls, but the debris vanishes!!! WHAT KIND OF REALISM IS THAT!!!
It’s almost like it’s a video game or something!
In retrospect yeah it wan’t that great of a thread, but I forgot how many assholes really are in this community to keep it going so long.
Fancy Pants makes her first and only point she will ever make.
Break out the cameras, because this is it.
The community of assholes will last for as long as the mod is in development.
And by the looks of it, we still have a while to wait.
It’s because Gordon actually spend 8 hours in ravenholm
IMO, he spent 8 hours at the mine cart watching it slice up zombies.
Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
