Why did they choose the MP7?

If Half Life(2:episode 3) 3 is going to have newer or better weapons, I sure hope they add more Half Life-esque experimental weapons, such as the Tau Cannon (man, I do miss that thing)

I want trap-based weapons back for single player, and I’d like to see them make new, creative experimental weapons.

Even having the SLAMM usable in the game would be cool, or a variant where you can stick it on the wall and still remote detonate it, maybe stick it to barrels and launch it with the grav gun, stuff like that.

That would make the regular junk laying around pretty much deadly in any case.

Bring back the Gluon Gun for HL whatevs 3! Or something similar.

heck yes!

I want an orientation grenade… A mine to stick onto a player or prop’s surface which will detonate when a set amount of rotation (let’s say 45°) has occurred since the angle of fixture.

Paste it behind doors, hide it under delicately placed barrels, pat your friends on the back for a job well done and then tell them “GULLIBLE” is written on the ceiling; you can do it all with orientation-grenades!!

I would also like to toss barnacle eggs onto ceilings. And maybe jump-pad spores onto floors. And maybe jump-pad spores onto ceilings… to kill players via fall-damage. While we’re at it, why not introduce damage from running into walls and ceilings too quickly, too.

Some of the guns in OP4 would be nice, like the barnacle grapple and Displacer

Since Valve seems to like Heckler & Koch weapons, I nominate basically everything they make. :stuck_out_tongue:

hmm i wonder what gun will come after the mp7 in hl3 (or 4)

i’d lol if it were the G36C

vale seems to always use HK weapons for the SMG-class

Oh gods… You know how Half-Life loves to give their SMGs a grenade launcher?

I just discovered a separate concept of weapon, the NIVA XM1970:

That’s right, instead of sporting a slung-under GL, it has a fixed over-the-shoulder recoilless rifle. By including a weapon like this, Half-Life 3 could knock out the SMG and RPG roles with one weapon.

That is perfect. It has just the right blend of futuristic influences, elegant functionality, and ridiculous firepower I’ve come to expect from Half-Life.

looks heavy and uncomfortable as fuck though

Perfect homemade rebel-material.

In fact, I’m in love with it. I will be very disappointed if this monstrosity does not show up in HL3. I should start an online petition, online petitions get things done.

How the hell would you aim the SMG component? I don’t see any sights for it…

You look through the barrel of the Rocketlauncher, LOL !

Whaaaaat, Gordon never uses the sights on his SMGs!..

…Maybe they’re on the side of the gun, like some grenade launchers and ghetto-glocks.

Or maybe those two circles above the barrel are actually cameras that feed to Google’s augmented-reality glasses.

Imagine having a gun for a nose! Hohoho…

…I’ll admit: that technology is a bit beyond a 1970s prototype. But it could be done now.

Put a scope on it & it looks like a shittier OICW.

P90 would’ve worked I think. I never really like the mp7 that much really.

Somewhat off topic, I think the Hunter Chopper would’ve been awesome if it was one of these (Maybe spiced up with Combine Tech too) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0R1ISQAmqk

or one of these for a Eastern European feel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i90afxVObO4

I would like to say, the new weapon in Half-Life 3. I would like to nominate the UMP45. Seeing how they transitioned from MP5 to MP7. I could see MP7 to UMP45. P.S I don’t really like the MP7 so I replaced it with the MP5. :3

WOOHOO LET’S ALL NECRO-POST

The UMP is kinda boring and generic, though. I think that the Magpul PDR or the Beretta CX4 Storm (which they used on Battlestar galactica) would both be nice, albeit possibly too futuristic.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
