Who's waiting for the Steam version?

I thought ModDB made Desura? I would assume it’d be the same :S

Nope. ModDB downloads are through the browser, whereas Desura has its own download service, complete with cloud backup (like Steam).

are you sure moddb didnt make desura?? :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m not denying that they did, I’m just saying that the download process is different. Which has been my point all along, mind you.

I cannot believe people seriously choose to wait. What if you die tomorrow? Or worse, get paralysed or such? Life is too short. Download Black Mesa today.

No.

I have no choice but to wait. Most of the DL links don’t work anymore, or it’s split into parts and I don’t want to jump through hoops to download the game.

Use the torrent.

Not everyone has that option. I didn’t.

Nope, I’ll wait.

You tell him.

i think waiting is a little silly, if you wanna play it when its on steam fine, but surely you will wanna know if there are any issues running the game?

I don’t see any problem with waiting. I do see a problem with the view that waiting is irrational, though. Not everyone is fighting a coronary waiting for Black Mesa to release. Some are simply not in a rush to play it.

I, myself, chose to not wait because I knew there’d be more bug-testing and balance-tweaking to be done to the game before it were made “final,” hence now is the best time to report bugs and discuss design, I think. I respect those who are choosing to wait, but they’re also losing some of their input. Remember - one of the plans for the future from Greenlight is “acting on feedback.”

I am still holding out for the Steam version!

You do that.

Hell’s the matter with you?

Now, now, be nice…

“Life is too short, spend it playing videogames” doesn’t seem like sound logic. Lets be completely honest with ourselves.

Also to those who waited, you obviously are either really patient (congrats!) or you’re scared to jump into the mod world.

I honestly don’t see a problem with waiting for the steam version. I certainly couldn’t do that, since I’m really impatient. Plus, I would have to avoid spoilers for a long time, so screw that.

There is nothing wrong with people waiting, but I wonder why. Will the Steam version be any different?

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
