When you kill a combine

When you kill a combine cop in HL2, there is a female voice message (some sort of warning). Does anyone know what does it say? I cant make it out since its not very clear. Just curious, thx.

Edit: And also, what is the announcement at the start of route canal saying? (“attention protection scheme…” “attention please, an identified person” etc… something about civil protection scheme?)

Isn’t there just a high-pitched whiny bee… OH I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE!

Turn on subtitles?

It’s something like “Attention protection team, unit down at [area]” But it varies quite a bit.
“Unit down at [area], remaining units contain”
“Lost biosignal for unit [randomized]” etc.

Subtitles doesnt show up for everything

What jeffMOD said, I remember hearing it when I killed two cops in the street.

It picks randomly from this selection of phrases:

“Unit down at [location] [location number].”
“Unit down at [location] [location number]. All teams respond code three.”
“Lost bio-signal for Protection Team unit [unit name] [unit number].”
“[Unit name] [unit number] unit deserviced. Remaining units contain.”
“[Unit name] [unit number] unit down at [location] [sector number].”

[Location] is the name of the area that you’re in, gathered from key words used in the map name.

[Location number] is a random number applied to the map.

[Unit name] is a random name given to the squad from a selection, and [unit number] is a random number given to the cop himself.

I think it’s:

“Attention please. Unidentified person of interest: confirm your Civil Status with local Protection Team immediately.”

and

“Attention Protection Team. Status: Evasion in progress in this community. Respond. Isolate. Enquire.”

boooooooooooooWEEEEEEEEEE KHKHKHK

78 point 5 code 6, 104 north avenue 52

How would you control that if you were mapping? Does anyone know?

Everything the Metropolice and Combine Soldiers say are contained within “sentences.txt” in the scripts folder of “source engine.gcf” and suchlike. This includes the death sounds, etc.

Also, if you want to make them give a certain location when they’re talking you have to include one of these keywords in the name of the map:

trainstation, canals, eli, town, coast, prison, c17, citadel

I can’t hear the voice over the sound of how awesome my crowbar is.

It’s the overwatch, a computer operated by a big ass computer over-watching them. The voice they used is similar to glados, only more british, and with a radio effect over it.
When they die it goes argh-beeeeep-ksht blip unit down in sector one. remaining units, contain. blip.

Quoted for significance.

Overwatch says quite a bit throughout the game actually, you can hear it redirecting troops in City 17, Nova Prospekt, the Citadel and the countryside in Ep2 (although that is probably a different system).

The stuff said at the start of the game is actually about the Protection TEAM in the district, warning them about a citizen miscount in the area. This is probably due to Freeman being spotted entering the apartments. It later goes on to start addressing a “person of interest”, aka Freeman, listing off the charges placed against him.

ok thx all

It’s the Overwatch Dispatcher, Overwatch is the name given to the Transhuman Combine Soldiers collectively.

That’s because the same person voiced it, Ellen McLain. She also voiced the announcer in TF2 and the Overwatch dispatcher that we’re talking about.

Catz and Ellen are my favorite female voice actors.
