CS was definitely a mod for HL before it was taken over by valve, and Portal is made by a relatively small team of game developers, also hired by valve. IDK bout DoD

They can simply recompile the maps with the new engine tools (vvis.exe vbsp.exe, etc)

Exactly the whole thing will start all over again. People will say “Black Mesa: Deathmatch is SO dead”, then flame wars will start, and we’ll live though what we are currently dealing with right now. And finally after waiting and waiting with no updates it’ll release.

I hope BM devs will help someday the guys who make Operation Black Mesa and Guard Duty, eg. let them utilize BM assets or some of the source code? Or maybe some personal help? No idea, anyway it would be cool to have the whole Half-Life universe on source :slight_smile:
