Wheatley High-Poly Model

Two versions maybe?

Factory New

and

Beaten

holly freakin’ banana apples! I use Blender but you sir, You are my God

now render it with LuxRender, please

haha lux or maxwell would look awsm! Set the render to .25fph (frames per hour) :3

If you got the lighting right the blue glow would look amazing.

Alright so I have no idea why but I just got the urge to make him. He’s pretty simple but I think he looks good with the small details and stuff. Maybe I’ll make the COOP bots as well after…

And so it begins:

man you are good as modeler but you are not involved in any dev team :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s not that the model looks “factory new,” it just looks CG. Even right off the assembly line, a metal chassis would have wear marks as a result of construction and shipping. Extra touches like that make 3d models convincing.

Matte’s right. Ad the decals. It’s the little things that count.

No matter what I try, I can’t get it to work. > :frowning:

I’ll definitely be adding those decals though. :stuck_out_tongue:

what’s the problem?

You didn’t tell me you had modeling experience o.o ???

I downloaded the Max 2009 32x .dlr files and put them in the plugins folder…I also put the .ms files in the startup scripts. As far as I can tell that is right…yet when I start Max it says “Luxmax_2009.dlr plugin could not initialize - the procedure could not be found” - yet it shows me the directory it is in so it must have found it. :expressionless:

Haha, a hidden talent. - I havn’t got much experience with making models compatible for games though. :frowning:

Damn! I can see you being hired by Polyphony Digital, you’d fit in perfectly with them if they ever try to take a spin at something besides racing. But I doubt you’d be interested in that genre of advanced modeling. And before I forget, you sir just earned my new profile pic! Now how about a GLaDOS hi-poly render, eh?

Thanks guys! Your suggestions help a lot.

Ah, I looked at that and other threads, followed it to the letter and still can’t get it to work. :frowning:

Haha, thanks! :stuck_out_tongue:

GLaDOS would actually be really fun to model! I’ll definitely consider it. :retard:

Here are some wireframes:

Alright, I’m going to improve all the textures and I started by improving the UV’s; before I go to bed, here’s a quick shot of some of the mapped parts:

Night all.

When did you effing learn how to do this? Your work is amazing

Could I plox request a 1920x1080 render in this position for my desktop?
And, if you have the time, 2 other 1280x1024 ones for my other screens, but that doesn’t matter really.

This is ridonkulously awesome.

Would it be possible for you to share some big ass resolution versions of it, I’d like to compose some simple wallpapers of it? I understand if you aren’t willing to. Thanks in advance.

For now, I’ll be rendering specific wallpapers for people if they request them (see below) but feel free to edit them or the other high-res renders that I’ll be posting soon. I’ll try and get a render of him at 2048x2048 soon too. :stuck_out_tongue:

Heh, thanks. I’ve been making models for about 5 years; mostly just for fun and my personal portfolio.

I havn’t forgotten what you said about the .PNG images being inefficient; I’ll be ‘jpeging’ the images shortly. Thanks for the heads-up, I didn’t think about it before.

You may indeed. Plox enjoy. :3
