It’s that time again! It’s looking more like Wheatley every few minutes. I’ve been playing with the lighting and textures a bit too. :stuck_out_tongue:

I will probably be adding reflections and bounced light to make it more realistic next time. Come to think of it…this is really starting to look like the robot sphere from Halo 1…I can’t remember his name. :expressionless:

Changed the scale of a few things, adjusted a few shapes and improved the small bolts around his eye: (oh and it’s a clay render this time :wink: )

I have no experience in modeling at all so bear with me here:

This is a full-fledged 3D model, as in it can be manipulated, rotated, etc. right? And can it be exported to a source-compatible file, replacing (for instance) the wheatley file in-game?

It can be exported to Source, but it’s way too detailed and high poly for in-game use.

In essence, yes it could, although mine is far too high-poly (really smooth and detailed basically) and isn’t rigged for animation at the moment. I doubt I ever will attempt to get it in-game as…well, there’s already a Wheatley in it, heh. :3

Perhaps you could make a normal map with the high poly model and then apply the map over a low poly one.
