What's your 2013 GOTY?

Mine is Bioshock Infinite. Sure, it has its fair share of flaws, but the world is beautiful and engrossing, and I think Irrational did a great job.

I’d put Brothers as a close second. It’s the first time that I’ve seen story conveyed through controls. Seriously, if you haven’t played it yet, don’t miss it.

Honorable mention: Stanley Parable

I think I would have to go with Saints Row IV. I have played it more than everything. Deus Ex Human Revolution Director’s Cut would be second. I think those are the only two games I have played that were released this year.

gta and papers please were sikk but idk what else came out this year now

e: antichamber is the best if it came out in 2013 actually

Bioshock infinite. I didn’t play anything else that came out this year, cause I think dishonored and Walking Dead (telltales) came out last year. However, those were fantastic as well.

The Last of Us followed very closely by Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons.

Runner ups are Tomb Raider, GTA V and Bioshock Infinite.

LEGO City Undercover. Seriously.

Fez.

Technically a 2012 game I guess but it came to PC in 2013.

GTA V, because it’s the only new game I’ve really played this year

Really grasping at straws here, because I wasn’t terrifically impressed with anything 2013 had to offer;
Contagion.
It’s still in beta, so it’s not really even a 2013 game, but it’s honestly the only new thing all year that I’ve really liked. It’s an extremely tense and dynamic experience. Which, imo, is the secret to horror’s future in video games. Even just a taste of the dynamic makes something twice as scary (AKA; what Amnesia needs). In Contagion, there’s a really good FFA mode where the start off the round is a scavenge for the good weapons where you desperately hope you don’t run into anyone, and the rest is hunting eachother while the horde encircles you. The zombies swarm gunshots in a way that’ feels really organic. And you can hunt fellow survivors by watching where the zombies are walking. Good stuff.

Infinite was cool, but the gameplay was sorely lacking.

Kinda a bad year in gaming imo. Deadspace series finally gave up on being fun, BF4 released unfinished and not justifiably changed from its predecessor (how the hell did they not finish it? It’s not even that different), steam living room experience was announced, but hasn’t dropped yet and there’s, as expected, no news on the HL3 front, and all the other AAA’s failed to impress. Assassins Creed got beaten like the dead horse it is one more time alongside the other dead horse CoD, GTAV hasn’t come to PC, Tomb Raider sold out to the ADD action advetnure crowd (better than Underworld at least, which was on the opposite side of boring beyond believe, get your damn pacing right Square Enix), not sure what else to bitch about. Guess I haven’t seen any really good 15-30 dollar MP titles drop recently except GOTY Contagion. (the best games IMO are always in this category).

I think I’ll jump on the Bioshock bandwagon here, followed by Tomb Raider.

Underhell Chapter 1, Shadow Warrior, or Metro LL.

Whoa this is like a Neogaf post I can actually reply to.

I guess you haven’t played it, or you would know that there is enough to justify it being a new game, but the price is ridiculous (glad I got it for half-off)

another point for Bibleshock here

but also far cry 3 blood dragon, dayz standalone, arma 3, metro last light, payday 2, shadow warrior, brutal doom’s latest version

XCOM: Enemy Within should count. I’ll see soon if I can change my vote to Outlast, since that game looks amazing.

Forgot about Shadow Warrior, that’s one of mine as well

I got it free with my new GPU. It just feels like what BF3 SHOULD have been. Same game, but with a slew of improvements that had no right not to be in the first game, oh and with a lot more bugs. Except for the whole levolution thing, which looks cool and all, but is mostly just a poor gimmicky excuse of dynamic environments. BF3 was a 110 dollar game retail (DLC+preorder). So why the hell should we be expected to pay another 110 for a sequel that fails to innovate? Expecially when 15-30 dollar games may not be outshining it in pure content, but sure as hell are outshining it in innovation and gameplay. I picked up Contagion for $3.74 and it’s a much more fun game than BF4.

I didn’t play much that came out this year, but I Tomb Raider’s got my win. That game was fantastic. Metro Last Light and The Stanley Parable are next in line.

ME Trilogy is nowhere near 2013 release…

ArmA’s nowhere near GOTY state…

So yeah, for me the struggle is clearly between Black Flag and DayZ.

AC lets me sneak around scaring people shitless… DayZ lets me drop all my clothes…
Tough fight…

I’m not one for dropping my clothes, so DayZ’s got the survival thing to it here…

A fight too tough.
Aw, fuck it, DayZ’s not release, but Early Access.

Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag for me.

GTA V, Bioshock Infinite, Rise Of The Triad, Brutal Doom
