What Game Did You Play Today?

I heard it was great if you ignore that it was named syndicate. The coop demo I played was fucking amazing.

Well I just finished playing SpecOps: The Line.

Holy shit, did not see that coming. If you haven’t played it, do it. NOW. It’s precisely what can be done with games in general if made intelligently.

If you have played it, did you held The Line? I did. I don’t know if it mattered in the end.

Yeah, I looked into it, and apparently all of Nintendo’s cartridge-based systems had different cartridges per region, which is a means to physically region-lock the systems. But there are adapters that do bypass the prohibitive measure.

I will indeed be going the ROM route though.

I beat Black Mesa a couple days ago. It was a good time. Enjoyed every second of it. The final part killed my framerate, something fierce. But I was able to dash into the portal before things got too serious.

I didn’t encounter too many bugs. In fact, my experience yielded very little issues. A missing wall in the dam, when shot, some HDTVs disappeared, the tram in “On a Rail” not activating an elevator, one minor missing texture reflection; and that’s it. Nothing took me out of the experience, and I continually looked forward seeing whatever came around the next corner. Good job guys, nay, you have created a stellar GAME. It is far from being a simple modification of the Source engine.

Now I’m playing Bit.Trip Fate for Wii and Minecraft.

Quake 1 with darkplaces + HD texture packs a bit, Doom 3 with sikkmod + HD textures, and Chivalry.

Quite a bit of Minecraft. I fleshed out the remaining floors on my high-rise structure. I fixed my chicken/egg farm by adding an additional piston to keep the chickens from going off where they’re not supposed to when I activate the cooking mechanism. I’m now currently working on the landscaping around my high-rise as the cleared space looked rather plain and lifeless. Dug out a river with a waterfall, and put a road parallel to it. It’s beginning to look awesome.

Once I get this done, I’m going to work on my next project: a cabin on top of my mountain base. I’m gathering ideas from YouTube, though it’s not going to be quite as grand, it’s still going to be pretty cool.

Yesterday I decided to finally try out Civilization V for the first time. While it was certainly different from what I’ve come to know from Civ2 and Civ3, it was still quite a fun experience.

That is, until I was the next on Elizabeth’s list of world domination, which inspired everyone on earth except Gandhi to instantly hate me.

It was weird.

Been playing through the first Metal Gear Solid for the first time (yeah, yeah, I know, I’m really late to the party) and once you get used to the old, slightly awkward controls and camera, it’s a really really good game.

Just got to the second Vulcan Raven boss fight.

The problem I found with the game was the lack of support from the developers. I’d still play that game today if they’d of released more expansive missions for Co-Op with more upgrades for your agent, it was some of the, if not THE most awesome Co-Op I’ve played this gen. You needed your teammates and the fighting got pretty intense and brutal.

I do hope they think about a sequel as they had some awesome ideas and the aesthetics were very much my cup of tea. I even liked the SP to for the most part.

It certainly wasn’t a ‘syndicate’ game, however it was still good in its own right.

Now if you could make the levels more free roam, as in self contained city areas, and if they could mix into the Co-Op game an ‘executive’ class that actually took the role of the original syndicate games players role you’d have something beyond awesome.

Dishonored

Finished with 0 kills and 0 alerts. B)

I’m playing San Andreas and every time a cutscene plays in Jizzy’s club the screen is all purple. Now I have to do a mission inside the place and still the screen is all purple. Anyone know how to fix this?

Edit: Once the part where I had to start shooting started the screen went normal. I have no clue what caused the purple screen.

Tried the MinerWars demo. It’s not bad, definitely looks nice and has some decent destruction, but the sound design is weak, AI is bare bones, and ship control is very “stiff” compared to Descent, not to mention there’s an overcomplicated amount of controls and the UI, while simple and fitting of the game’s graphics, is rather unintuitive as well (which is disappointing, it took me several minutes to discover what was what for my ship status)

Oh well, I’m at least pleased that anyone is attempting a 6DOF game like Descent that isn’t a space sim these days. But still, I miss the sound effects, the designs (ESPECIALLY the ship design, Pyro GX most badass ship design EVER) and of course the cool music.

Even with the flaws, it’s still in beta, and the promise of a non-ending solar system is pretty cool too, as well as every asteroid allowing you to tunnel through them, and cooperative and competitive multiplayer. They need some better ship designs though, most of them don’t really look too good.

Just beat Zero’s missions in GTA:SA. Whoever playtested those missions must be masochistic. Took me two tries to beat the two last missions but the controls are still terrible.

I found that game to be too frustrating. You pull off everything perfectly and then fail because it was off by one damn inch.

Physics sucks bro.

Been playing some Republic at War mod for EaW:FoC.

I remember waiting for this mod a few years back. They didn’t disappoint. However, the CIS seems to kick a little too much ass. I had to pull all my fleets back to Coruscant, drawing a majority of their fleets there as well, and hold a massive space battle. I won, of course. :stuck_out_tongue:

Hopefully I can take back some planets now without droid phallus lodging itself in my prostate.

Playing GTASA but about to play MP2 again. I know that in MP3 there’s a way to remove the color filter for when you go into slow motion. Is there a way to do this in MP2 as well?

Decided to try out TES:Arena again. I’ve attempted this game many a time before, but I’ve always been deterred by the graphics. This time, however, I’ve gone through Dark Forces and the King’s Quest series, and outdated graphics are no problem.

Then I realise that the main problem is the clunky-ass gameplay, but I’m still hell-bent on actually finishing it this time.

Not trying to be a grammar Nazi or anything, as I know harping on poor grammar on the internet is practically self-defeating, but I just now started noticing this trend.

This is more of an FYI for future reference, than a OMG you spelled something wrong!

I just want to say that “of” is not a legitimate substitute for “have”. I know you get an “of” sound when you utilize the contraction “'ve” (ie. would’ve, could’ve, should’ve = would have, could have, should have), but I never realized people were actually making that mistake.

Sorry, off topic. I’m currently playing Minecraft.

I had so much trouble playing that game. Daggerfall may be buggy, but it was a huge step up from Arena mechanically.

D2. Playing on DEmul, but I think I need to do a save state to get past the “Please insert disc 2” screen and I don’t know how to. Does anyone know? It’s kind of annoying. By the way, I’m playing on version 0.5.6.

Mhm, I’m quite looking forward to Daggerfall at this point.

Arena is hard as shit to say the least, I don’t really understand the combat system other than spamming attacks and hitting the target 50% of the time. Sometimes I’ll mow down swarms of enemies really easily, other times I’ll stand for two minutes without hitting a single guy.

Then there’s other weird shit, last I accidentally hit the “steal” button at the merchant when I was going to repair, and with no safety precaution, it just said that I failed and everyone turned hostile instantly, a bunch of orcs spawned right there in the blacksmith, and I died and lost my progress.

Still, I am going to finish this thing, dammit.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
