What Game Did You Play Today?

Oh, look, this guy thinks he’s K3nny.

Nah, if he was me, he’d be playing Sonic Generations instead.

I would but my computer is sorta shit.

Call of Pripyat again. Just when I think this game isn’t as scary as SoC I go to pripyat and encounter my first chimera in the pitch black night, hunting monolith stragglers from a squad I whittled down earlier.

I was trying to sneak past the soldiers, so when I discovered it was there it was genuinely terrifying trying to avoid it.

Finished all the side objectives in Assassin’s Creed II - just a few main sequence memories to go, I think.

EDIT: Finished Assassin’s Creed II. On to Brotherhood…

EDIT2: …or Steam can go down :expressionless: (~3:45 AM GMT+10)

EDIT3: Started AC: Brotherhood. Some nice technical and graphical improvements over AC II. Uncapped framerate, yay!

That said, I’m having some weird issues with parts of characters disappearing, characters switching out of a “T-pose”-like animation when they become visible after turning a corner, and characters disappearing for a moment then reappearing while climbing.

Booted up good ol’ Dwarf Fortress for the first time in ages.

I’m using a few mods and utilities, and by that I mean over half a dozen different windows opened up when I pressed “launch” on a mod GUI. One of these is literally a spreadsheet for organizing labors.

It’s awesome.

Decided to give AssCreed 2 a chance after getting bored with the first one ages ago and writing the series off. It felt pretty meh for the most part; the gameplay was good for a while and then it got repetitive and dull. The story was uninspired to say the least - and, oh God, Ezio must be one of the most uninteresting protagonists in the history of uninteresting video game protagonists. When I thought the cutscenes could not possibly get any more bland, I reached the end and, fuck me, that was a load of bullshit.

I’ve read that the following instalments are more of the same and that only Black Flag changes things up a bit, so I’ll be giving that a try.

You think Ezio is a boring protagonist? Wait till you try Connor.

Ezio was probably the best protagonist in all of AC games…

Altaïr is closely second, then Edward Kenway (Yarr!), then Connor (I’m kinda interested in native americans, heh), then long time nothing, then the Templar scum Haytham (Because of his allegiance!)

Ezio is super my kawaii husbando~~

AC2 is one of the best games ever made IMO and Ezio is a great videogame character.

Tried to play AC2 and it kept popping up console button key icons when telling me what to do. It got old going to the menu and matching the pictures to the pc controls. Is there really no fix for that or does everyone on PC just learn the controls by trial and error?

It would be wise to invest in a PC gamepad anyway, to be honest. There are many games out there that control much better with a gamepad.

Really?! Could you explain why? I want to understand.

We play Ezio ever since literally his birth until his dying years. We see him grow from an angry inexperienced kid to a wise old warrior.

We go through all his ups and downs and in the end we feel we played an actual person in videogame format.

But it’s just how I see it. I’m sure I don’t like something you love too. It’s how life works.

Spoilers much? Imho Haytham > Connor. Yes, he’s evil, but he’s still far more interesting than Connor.

I guess I just felt that his growth wasn’t explored in depth and his emotions felt pretty shallow. But that’s me.

AoE II HD. Just against the computer. I don’t play RTS games against other people; it’s the most stressful thing in the fucking world.

I totally agree with you on this. Every time I play Starcraft, I end up getting rushed 5 minutes in with freaking Carriers. How the frack do you build THAT fast?

Because ubermicro.

I hate RTS games, it doesn’t feel like I’m doing shit. Kinda the same with RPGs.
[COLOR=‘Black’]turn-based RPGs, mind you. Action RPGs are okay with me.
