I suppose after a hundred hours or so, if I didn’t like it by now I would have quit, either that or I am a gluton for punishment (not sarcasm!).
I believe you had mentioned you had the first game a while back, when we had a small discussion about the card battling system. I do have two points to make here. I skipped Eternal Wings, because I decided to experience the story chronologically, as Origins implies that it’s a prequel. In fact it takes place at least a decade before the first game. That being said, because I haven’t experienced the first game, I wouldn’t know how the two would stack up against each other. I would imagine since Origins was the second to be released, that it would have some considerable improvements over its predecessor, especially in the combat system. I did read on GameFAQS that they had made quite a few changes to the card system alone.
From my experience, the game has been quite fun, and I’m enjoying the story quite a bit. Though after a hundred hours or so, it does start to be wearisome, as I’ve level grinded my characters to the point where only the bosses offer any kind of threat. It’s not that it’s boring, but because I’ve done it so many times, it just doesn’t offer the same excitement as the first twenty hours. Now it’s blah, another battle with peons.
Not to discourage you, but if you ever get into either BK, prepare for a long haul. Though I suppose that is to be expected with most turn based JRPGs.
