What Game Did You Play Today?

Started DS2 on Survivalist difficulty. I have a feeling I’m going to regret it, seeing as I finished DS1 on easy. Thought it was normal, but no, easy.

Edit: Wait, so it takes 2 plasma cutter shots to dismember a Slasher leg now? Dayum son. There went my easy strategy of 1 arm 1 leg.

When I played DS1 on Hard, I had necromorphs ducking under my line gun shots. I don’t know if they do that on Normal, but it was fucking rad.

I’m playing on DS2’s level of hard (I’m pretty sure) and I’ve had necros avoid my line gun. Awesome, but makes me panic shoot LOL.

It’s…not too bad at the moment but I think I’ll end up bumping the difficulty down to normal later on, the combat feels a lot better in this game (yay TK is actually super useful and fun) but it also seems to be harder. Not just because of the difficulty but because of the situations I’ve been in.
Also I’m guessing it’s an engine limitation but bodies despawning when I haven’t stomped on them yet is really annoying. I just encountered my first “Pack” and there were like 20 of the little bastards, I didn’t get HALF the loot I could’ve because they despawned by the end of the encounter.

Speaking of which, I wish I didn’t have to stomp (or injure in any way) every single corpse for loot. I guess it’s so when a necro “plays dead” you can never be too sure unlike where in DS1 it was obvious since the loot dropped on death, but it gets annoying.

Edit: Okay. I turned the difficulty down to normal during chapter 7 after the tripod elevator fight
That is some unfun bullshit right there to be honest. There was already 2-3 specific locations where the fights gave me enough trouble that I was contemplating lowering it but this was the deciding one. I’ve been pretty good with my ammo conserving and it definitely feels more survival horror but there is a point I just want to play the game and re-doing things multiple times isn’t fun anymore.
Also wtf did they do to Leapers this game? They’re so strong right now, you basically have to stasis them or you’re not gonna kill them.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3D. Just got to the mountains area.

The feels.

I was in the mood for a good shooter. I’ve got Doom 3 BFG Edition but have only ever played Doom and Doom II from it, so I decided to fire up Doom 3.

I started off impressed; it has a FOV slider and can be played in 1440p!

But, uh, this game is a whole lot of nothing so far. Just a mediocre corridor shooter with imps jumping out at you from behind every other door. A lot of getting mobbed by small enemies that back you into corners and kill you with numbers.

Maybe I’ll play another game of Dead Space 2 instead.

Why play Doom 3 when you can play Doom 4?

$60.00.

Haha that’s a very fair argument.

I’ve been playing Dishonored and Battlefield recently, looking forward to their sequels in a few months.

I can empathize. It’s listed at $80 where i’m at (yay weak currency).

After reading Shamus Young’s Mass Effect Retrospective, I’m embarking on a trilogy playthrough to see if his criticisms stick. This is important work for the benefit of video game players everywhere.

I have way too much time on my hands.

The Stanley Parable.

The game is fantastic, and I should not have let it sit in my steam library for so long.

I just picked up Assassins Creed: Middle Earth.

Fuck you skunk I havn’t been keeping up with ubisoft and I thought that might have been an actual thing.

On the other hand, now I want to play shadow of mordor again, it is a great game.

It’s actually surprisingly fun! I spent hours buffing up Shagflak Lice Head, and he fucking died on me. That bastard. I was gonna make him a warchief. Puniest orc I could find.

Shadows of Hodor was a pretty good sword game
I just played a bunch of Blacke mesa and Crysis after I got my gaming PC going after over a year of parts hell

My favorite shadow of mordor moment was by far when I was hiking along doing absolutely nothing useful and the game informs me that Pug the dung collector has died, and the camera zooms across the valley to where Pug has just had his head sat upon by a Graug.

I just played Inside in one sitting. I saw a couple Let’s Plays of the first levels and knew right away that this game was for me.

It’s a puzzle platformer, in the vein of Limbo before it. I would say that it’s not as frustrating as Limbo was - you died a lot in that game. The ending (I got the regular/bad? ending - I’ll have to play again to unlock the other one) was bizarre, but really cool.

Only expect it to last about 4 hours, depending on how fast you play.

Watched a LP of it, and although it is my sort of game I probably won’t buy it.

The ending completely confused me till I went and watched a few videos about it to understand exactly wtf was going on and realised I really disliked the ending. I’m all for subtle story telling but not in the way they did it.

Witcher 3

I’ve actually been playing World[sub][sup] of Warcraft lately.[/sup][/sub]

Dunno if I’ll stick with the game for more than a month or two longer, but I’m definitely looking forward to the Legion expansion.

I’ve set up Kirby and the Amazing Mirror on an emulator to play 4 player with my friends. It’s gonna be weird
