I think you just got me addicted.
FEAR.
Fucking Harlan Wade. I wanted to be the one to shoot Mapes in the face!
Edit: Finished the game. If you ask me, it’s bad form to end a game on a jump scare like that.
Replaying the original Bioshock. I have just noticed that this game actually has the exact same iron sights mechanic as Infinite.
Brutal Doom.
It’s pretty fucking awesome, and revitalizes the games quite well. I love how you can’t really get mad at it, since if you die you can just blow a fucking Cacodemon in half or just use the (improved) minigun in a crowded hallway.
Goes down well with a cup of Sepultura.
Paranautical Activity.
The new patch has made it about 500% more playable.
This is the…second time, I believe, that I beat a run.
MoH Spearhead
I love me some good ol’ MoH…but fuck that half track section in Belgium.
Played the fan mission “Prowler of the Dark” for Thief today. It’s labeled as small but it’s still larger than any of the missions in Thief 4, which I find funny. Going through this guy’s series of missions and the next couple are for TDM.
A Link Between Worlds. I still need to beat that game.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lost Alpha
Was going pretty well until…
[spoilers]…I went to get the documents from the bandit base in Dark Valley for the SIN leader. After getting the code from Borov, opening the safe and getting the documents out, the game crashes to desktop (after receiving a message on the PDA that the bandits found me out after all).[/spoilers]
Hopefully the next patch will fix this.
Decided to try out Dark Souls. Tried to beat the Asylum Demon. Aaaaand that’s enough Dark Souls.
Friend gifted me Risk of Rain as a late birthday present.
I’m terrible at it.
Mario Kart 8. I’ve never been into Mario Kart very much, or even racing games in general, but man this game is fun! It was great right from the get-go, but once I started getting the hang of advanced moves like drifting, it was just awesome. I highly recommend it. Plus if you buy it now through July 31 and register your copy online, you get a code for a free digital copy of Wind Waker HD, Pikmin 3, Wii Party U, or New Super Mario Bros. U (or a few other games if you live in Europe).
Yeah, I tried to take him on with the broken sword too. Not a good plan. There’s a door past him where you can run to. A proper sword and other inventory items are through there.
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Lost Alpha
Managed to get around the crash by saving my game after getting the documents from the safe, but before the exact moment the game was crashing on, then loading the save. (hopefully this won’t mess up something later on…)
Found some nice guns shortly afterward
I’ve got my shield and axe. It’s still an obnoxious fight. And I know that Dark Souls is all about the boss fights, which make me think it’s going to be an obnoxious game.
So, I tried out Persona 4 Arena. HOLY SHIT.
This game is AMAZING. Great, comprehensive tutorial rundown of the game’s mechanics, a massive story mode split between the characters written by the writers of Persona 4 and filled to the brim with comedy, heart, and intertwining threads to tie Persona 3 and 4 to this game. I can’t wait to see how the story plays out, there is so much cool shit going on.
And Mitsuru. Goddamn.
Played around in the free-roam in Star Citizen’s Arena Commander. Good God does that thing run like a slug. Had to bump it down to low in order to run somewhat smoothly.
The controls seem to be fairly in depth, even with an xbox controller. It took a little bit to get used to but once I deciphered the button map things got a bit easier.
I’m gonna try actually fighting some people later. Hopefully it doesn’t melt my system.
Played some more of this Thief 2 fan mission I’ve been playing for a few days now. It’s really long.
Also reisntalled GTAIV. I’m still mad that it runs so poorly. On the other hand I tried out some of the technology from that video comparing it and Watch Dogs and it really does hold up well. The “night shadows” option doesn’t just apply to night. If you have your headlights on during the day you’ll see shadows cast from them then too. I really hope GTAV comes to PC soon and is better than IV in performance.
On account of moving, I’ve played a shit-ton of FTL for the ipad. The controls for this version are actually very well-done, but they can be clunky at times.
