What Game Did You Play Today?

Well there was a bit in the Arrival DLC where you could get an achievement for making your way to the scientist without being seen or killing anyone.

Oh. Right, that.

Yeah, and the bit in Kasumi - Stolen Memory, as I’ve said already.

Batman Arkham City. Finished up all the side missions in the main story and I’m now getting the rest of the Riddler secrets.

BF4.

Well, I tried to play it, but in 30 minutes of trying, the game crashed 5 times (just drops to a black screen with the little BF4 loading icon on the top right corner until it sends you back to the desktop).

I’m having great fun with the gameplay itself, but this is seriously one giant fuck-up of a release.

I finished Far Cry 3 almost entirely like it was Doom: rush in with the biggest gun I have and just heal whenever I need to. I found the stealth missions to be the opposite of what most people said; the mission on the Medusa was unbelievably easy, but Doppelganger was near-impossible.

Played a couple missions of Aliens: Colonial Marines. I’ve finished it already, but it’s a pretty okay way to lose a couple minutes.

I was impressed overall actually. But…yeah, the boss was pretty damn cool.

They are quite different games, not just in gameplay but in focus also. ME1 is a game that focuses on the story and RPG elements. ME2 focuses more on building relationships with characters and on streamlined combat. ME3 is somewhere in between 1 and 2. It shifts back to completing the story while enhancing the emotional connection with the player by using the relationships built in the first 2 games. I think Bioware did a fantastic job with all 3 games…excepting, of course, the ending of 3. Again, I don’t think it’s really so horrible, but it’s obvious there were decisions and changes made to it. The whole side-plot of dark energy build up in Haestrom’s sun was made out to be very significant in ME2, but come ME3 it’s not even mentioned. I don’t know who made the decision to change it or why, but the fact it caused so much ridiculous internet outrage shows just how great everything else about the series was. I’m anxious to hear more about subsequent games and the planned movie.

I got Expeditions Conquistador during the GoG sale and played that for a little bit. It’s pretty cool. I’m still in the tutorial though so we’ll have to see how well it holds up later. Also played a few rounds of Rising Storm and finished the I think third episode in Quake.

Titan Quest: Immortal Throne

Currently 2/3rds of the way through Act 1 Epic, just found a legendary spear that boosted my DPS to over 1500 (from about 900)

Damn, that’s still an issue? Fuck, I’m glad I held off on a purchase >.>

I’m actually almost glad BF4 is having all these issues, it gives me even more incentive to wait for the cheaper bundle with premium so I can get everything.

Some BM today. Anybody who says tripmines are useless clearly has never actually used them.

^ I used to use em to kill the gargantua. Since I never made use of then much otherwise, it worked out xD

The only time I’ve used tripmines is during the assassin parts and when I know I will backtrack and there’ll be newly spawned enemies.

Enemies don’t detect tripmines, so you can easily lure most, including HECU troops, into them by placing them and running back and taking cover, since the AI has a very high tendency to decide to bum-rush you if they can’t directly see you.

I was doing an exploratory run through Human Revolution to see if a no items/no upgrades run is possible, but you need at least hacking level 2 to beat the woman merc boss, which sucks.

System Shock 2

It’s a pretty good game, I’d have to say. Although, I believe the developers tried adding too many mechanics into that tend to detract from the overall experience.

More Dark Forces.

It’s really impressive what they managed with a 2.5d engine. Being able to use an elevator that goes to multiple floors of a building, then going into a maintenance vent and moving the elevator to be able to drop down on top of it and access side vents in the shaft is pretty crazy for a game that came from a time when most other games were purely barebones rooms and hallways with almost no verticality to speak of.

Batman Arkham City. Working on getting all of the Riddler’s Revenge Medals. Will play the New Game Plus part of the game sometime later.

If you haven’t done so yet, check out this website for some great improvement mods:

They’re also about to release the SCP community patch, which will address gameplay issues and fix/improve a large number of visual glitches. Should be out before year’s end.

More Batman:Arkham Asylum.

Like it, but some of the places are just really friggin tedious, like the rooms where you’ve got like 6 thugs and they’ve all got the stupid suicide collars on them.
I really did like the bits with the Croc and Ivy. Not like 100% fun or anything, I just thought they were pulled off well and had a change for once, since basically just beating up multiple guys, then a new wave coming in, then a new wave after that (the pre-Harley capture fight) gets stale quickly.

I think I’m close to finishing soon. Can’t wait to play Arkham City, it looks amazing.
