I did play through OP4 by the way i just need help ffiguring out what the portal transformed into.

The portal hasn’t changed to other thing. I think it’s right to presume that portals are like water on this situation: There’s a person (on this case, Freeman), dirty; the clean water (a.k.a. the portal to Xen); and you watching (Shepard). Like water, it became altered somehow when Freeman jumped to it, but don’t transformed into another thing.
This is the best I can explain.
Well… second world (if that exists)… the thing is, if you ask anybody over here what they think about the country most of them will tell you it’s third world (except when we win the soccer world cup, then it’s the best country ever

On topic, if I understood what you are asking me, the portal is that green glowing thingy.
It transformed from a Portal into a Plot Hole. Plot holes are deadly if you touch them.
Edit: So what you’re asking is: why can’t you go through the portal Freeman went through, and why is it shooting lightning everywhere? Am I right?

I dont think any unusual transformation occurred. Its simply freeman’s portal.
the portal doesn’t transform into anything, it’s just that the aliens started blowing shit up, the controls were destroyed, and the scientist said that he couldn’t keep the portal open much longer, so once Freeman was through, the portal couldn’t take much more, and simply failed, but it was obviously open long enough for anyone close by (ie Shephard) to jump through, just that the portal must have, in the time from when Freeman jumped to Xen to the time Shephard could have jumped through, positioned the exit a little away from the point Freeman exited onto Xen, and simply died afterwards, so in other words, the second Freeman jumped through the portal, the second the portal became unstable enough to change its exit point

I’m saying that after Freeman jumped through, the exit on Xen changed to a different location a few feet away, in the air. Why, I don’t know, but it did.

Don’t the islands in Xen move through it? if that was the case and the exit from the portal to Xen is a static one, then when freeman jumped through the island was passing by, and when shepard jumped through the island had passed and the portal being static didn’t, hence a plummet into a dimensional abyss does seem like a probable outcome?
