"We serve the same mystery"

I thought so too.

EDIT - Fuck. It didn’t quite work out as I planned. :frowning:

Sometimes I think HL is just unnecessarily confusing. Like the authors make stuff up as they go, and never want to bother answering any questions. I think by now it’s the main reason some people just can’t get into the series.

thats also probably why episode 3 is taking so long. “shit dude we’ve been putting off this story too long…how do we make it make sense!”

‘‘Let’s put a fight against an advisor!’’

‘‘That doesn’t solve the make sense problem.’’

‘‘Yeah but it gives us the possibillity of making another game as a sequel, get more money and make the people ask more questions!’’

Done!
I’ve finished HL2. Amazing game, covered in mysteries. Starting EP1 in a few minutes.

Lol, I’ve almost finished HL2. I’ve laughed my arse off at this shit:
“And if you see Dr. Breen, tell him I said F**K YOU”

Yes, Barney is very quotable, isn’t he?

Fun fact - if you listen to the actual sound file, he does indeed say ‘fuck’, although they reduced the volume of that one word.

I believe Mark Laidlaw has said that they’ve had the story worked out for some time now. Since they began the Episodes, if I remember correctly.

If you guys were LOST fans you would be familiar with that sensation. That they make it as they go.
Like with LOST, I trust in the writers and have faith in them. By the end of the series there was a really fun thing where a character which represented the viewers who believed in the writers would said “this place is special, there’s an ultimate meaning for all this” while another character would said “this place is a lie, there’s no meaning, no destiny, this place is nothing” representing those who didn’t have faith in the writers.

Seeing as how the plot of each episode is pretty minimalist, so making it up as they go would be pretty easy to do all 3 episodes in one sitting.

I think the biggest problem isn’t that they don’t answer any questions, but that they don’t make the answers obvious enough. Everything needs to be pieced together carefully through keen observation & even the most obvious things, like the metropolice being unaltered human volunteers, or that Black Mesa had been visiting Xen before the resonance cascade flies over the heads of most people.

The other problem that they’ve been greatly improving upon with each game is how thinly spread each plot is. With HL1 I could barely remember how the resonance cascade began by the time I got to the Nihilanth because so little had happened other than running & shooting.

/\ What he said

I’ve finished Ep1 right now. Wow, I think Alyx “fancies” me  .
Time for HL2 Ep.2. I can’t wait to finish this one and then take the games all over. First three without any mods, last 3 with cinematic mod since now I’ve played the vanilla game(no mods)
Amazing game!

Yeah, she does. In fact, ever since the HL2 engine update, I’ve noticed her winking at the player from time to time during scripted scenes.

Or just looking at me and saying "“Is Dr Kleiner really telling everyone to… get busy?”
Loved that part.
And right now I’ve finish mass-killing ant lions in The Vort Coil. Gosh, I loved blowing their brains(or whatever) off with my shotgun.
Do you know any games in this style? Like tons of enemies coming and you killing them like mad?

Um, Serious Sam?

That’s a classic.
Maybe a modern game with good graphics.

Serious Sam 2 came out a year after HL2…

^haha. But yah I feel that though its confusing now, there is definitely a tying factor that will connect all the pieces of the story in the end. It is of course related to the gman. We know the vort’s origins, and we know that Breen knows about the gman, (his reference to the highest bidder in his office) but we don’t know who the gman is or who he works for. Once we know that everything else will make sense. And there is plenty of material in Ep. 3 to give us the information, such as the Borialus and the combine homeworld, which I’ll bet we visit.

Left 4 Dead? Left 4 Dead 2? Using Garry’s mod with npc’s from source games? Playing any gta game creating havoc and waiting for the police while wielding an ak47 and rocket launchers?

basically any zombie game does have those thousands of enemies coming at you…
