We got Black Mesa on Steam!

Wacky Racers much, right? :stuck_out_tongue:
Wacky Races : Dick Dastardly and Muttley : The Mean Machine 00

Except we didnā€™t pull any stupid tricks to win. :3

Congratulations everyone! Iā€™ve been checking up on Black Mesaā€™s Greenlight status this whole week. Last I had checked it was like 40-ish% and fluctuating. About time! Wooo

Yeah, we came just shy of the 50,000 mark before the top 11-1 were lit.

This is amazing news! Great job everyone who voted.

So are some people now thinking about waiting for the Steam release before downloading?

Iā€™m certainly not, but Iā€™m curious to see if anyone is.

HAHAHA no.

omy GOD my parents sayi '[m grounded and no computer for a WEEK this is SO GAY OMG i just want to play BLACKMESA: well CONGRATS to EVERYBODY who workd on this project im SO PROUD of ALL OF u! i promise i will play as SOON as my parents stop being such REETARDS!!!

It is a standalone Total Conversion for Half Life, though. It has its own story, levels, models, sounds, voices etc. That is to say, it provides a full new game experience as opposed to simpler mods that for example only change gun models/properties in a game.

this is the basis upon which any modding community works anyway. If that was to ever be a problem, mods wouldnā€™t be legal to be released anywhere, not just on Steam.

Steam does have a mods category (or search filter) though.

Greenlight is about making something available through Steam platform (even if free) based on community interest. It should not be illegal (a game for which you are not the creator) or ā€œadultā€-content (porn) game but thatā€™s about all limitation there is.

This is not surprising, but itā€™s great news!

Actually, it made me look into Routine and I voted for it too.

Damn i hope valve makes an exception and releases BM on release day. Either wayā€¦ GratZ!!!

haha, I knew you guys would do it, fucking congratulations. this is a monumental achievment.

Iā€™m waiting. 1. for the dust to settle. 2. Would give it a go if Steam declined but they greenlit- which was the point of all this, so Iā€™ll wait.

Awesome, congrats guys

Some previous comments confused me. Steam release is crystal clear, but do we know when will Black Mesa arrive on it?

Hell no, even if I knew the Steam release would be the next day I would still get the other one first. Iā€™m not waiting a second longer than I have to!

I canā€™t belive - Iā€™ll play the BM on Friday! Exсellent!

Not yet. Probably not on Friday.

Iā€™m so excited to play this. The best part is that my weekend starts on Friday morning!

I knew we could make it, I told a bunch of guys in school about it today because I hadnā€™t noticed it had been greenlit. I had downloaded a widget someone made to show precentage. So I come back from school and I still see 49% (same as yesterday before it was accepted) and im like FUCK SHIT GET GREENLIT NOW! and I go to steam reload the page and saw it was greenlit

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valveā€™s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
