We got Black Mesa on Steam!

Well if it does end up being ready for the 14th it would be a funny prank to shut down all the mirrors and torrents except the Steam Greenlight download link, to prove that Steam is not crash-proof.

How you devs feel about this awesomeness?

BLACK MESAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!

Too bad I wonā€™t be able to remote-download via the Steam app when 10:47 AM EST hits. I doubt itā€™ll be up on Steam in time for that. :frowning:

Ok, which game do you need to have installed to play it, then?

why dont you use Teamviewer remote desktop, for android and apple smartphones, just set it up on your computer and phone and use a username and password and click the download link straight from your phone!

Cool! I gotta try that out!

Should be handyā€¦ Iā€™ll be stuck in school when the mod releases.

Black Mesa: Setting the bar for dev teams even before release.
How do you do it?

TeamViewer works like a charm! Now I just gotta find some way to sneak out my phone in the middle of class to watch the last minute or so of the release countdownā€¦

What is TeamViewer?

Maybe just casually leave it on the corner of your desk at the beginning of class and say youā€™re using it as a clock.

Well ^Heisenberg up there suggested that I use TeamViewer to remote-access my computer and remote-download the game as soon as it releases, since Iā€™ll be stuck at school at the time of release.

It works pretty nicely.

Iā€™ll be in Robotics class at the time of releaseā€¦ which means Iā€™ll probably be relatively free. But my teacher doesnā€™t like us to take out our phones for any reason. :expressionless:

are guys gonna download Black Mesa via Torrents or wait for the steam release?

Butā€¦But how!? It was at like 50 % yesterday :S

Valve auto-accepted the top 10 games on greenlight. :meh:

Go to the ā€œbathroom.ā€

This is why Iā€™m so glad to be all graduated and taking a break before getting a jobā€¦ BLACK MESA ALLL DAYYYYY!!! XD

Except for the fact that they skipped over Slender: Sourceā€¦ probably because they donā€™t have much real content yet. So the top 10 good games. haha

Also I saw you liked my ascii enough to post it on your Steam page, and youā€™re also from PA. HI NEIGHBOR! lol

Hereā€™s your answer:

Woooohoooooo!!!

So BMS is officially the first game to be greenlit on Steam. Excellent!
Canā€™t wait for release. Itā€™s gona be midnight here when the countdown hits zero so no problems with work. It will be glorious!

oh wow! Teamviewer is super effective. Cant wait to try it over the mobile network tomorrow.

Im surprised not many people on here knew about Teamviewer, its how im installing Black Mesa if im not home.

anyone noticed that slender source did not get greenlit it had 35 % but still not! hahaha!

WOOOHOOO!! Congrats guys!

It looks like several other projects also got Greenlit at the same time.

I wouldnā€™t be surprised if Black Mesa had a bit of a catalyzing effect for the others.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valveā€™s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
