Watch Dogs

I’ve noticed you are kinda ignorant about resolution on consoles.

Most games on PS4 so far are straight 1080p with only a few being lower, although you’re right about the framerate.

Now, if we’re talking Xbone, then you’d be right on all accounts.

Watch Dogs runs about the same for me as GTAIV but keeps a stable framerate more often. And this is before the actual release.

Also while there are a lot of 1080p games on the PS4 (BF4 and a few others are lower though) it seems like it can’t handle it given how unstable most of the framerates are. On multiplats at least. Second Son runs pretty well from what I’ve seen but Killzone really doesn’t. Especially the “60 fps” multiplayer which is more like 40 fps average.

Second Son was built specifically for 30fps or higher. They weren’t targeting 60fps on that one.

All preloaded and waiting to be played tomorrow. Skipping the gym just for this

I know. And it actually is 30 fps 90% of the time, unlike a lot of games that are targeting 30 fps.

Around 8ish…not too shabby. Will be playing it later today and post first impressions.

Ok…some performance impressions:
My rig:
AMD FX 6300 3,5 GHZ
ATI Radeon 7850 1GB DDR5 OC
8 GB RAM DDR3
It’s true …this game uses(for better or worse)a lot of RAM(it spiked at 5.56 for me)
At these settings:
Textures - high
Anti-aliasing:FXAA it looks somehat better than SMAA in this game
Level of detail - High
Shadows - Medium
Refelections - Medium
Ambient Occlusion - MHBAO
Motion blurr - off
Depth of field - on
Water - High
Shader - High
I capped the framerate to 30 with RivaTuner Statistic server(it fluctuates too much without the vertical synch)but it’s a steady 30.Playing it at 900p.
The new AMD driver improved the performance only slightly(in my case anyway)…about 10-15 %.
Gameplay impressions later…

I could have started playing it at midnight through Steam but I decided to get a good night sleep instead. Very fun and challenging game though. I have only played two hours, but it isn’t as easy as a GTA or Saints Row game. The early missions can be difficult, and failure is quite possible right off the bat. They aren’t so hard that I am pulling out my hair, but just difficult enough that I feel like I need to step up my game and play a little smarter. I look forward to the next 40 to 80 hours

And I have no idea why people are complaining about the visuals. I’m running it below recommended specs and it runs fine and looks fantastic. No complaints from me.

Good God, the user review scores on this game are crazy low.

In light of this, I’m cancelling my LE preorder. I’ll probably still get standard edition.

I suspect those reviews are either stupid or a raid of some sort, half of them are giving 0’s. Not a big fan of this game, but it’s pretty obvious a 0 is stupid or bait.

The game looks fine, but it isn’t something I would expect of the next gen game. Go watch the video comparing it to GTAIV and see how it’s missing things that were in last gen games. Also the popin is horrible at high lod.

oh god why is it so awfully optimized

getting seemingly random slowdowns while driving (running too, but less noticeable)

^Ubisoft

sure, but wasn’t PC the lead dev platform?

People say that all the time and there’s really no way to say how true it is. I myself am getting pretty good performance but others are getting worse performance with better hardware. And making your game for PC doesn’t necessarily mean your game will run well on PC. What are your specs and what settings are you using?

pretty modest actually

i5 2500 / 8GB RAM 1600 / msi 560 ti

I’m running it at 900p, normal textures, everything else high/ultra.

vsync on so locked on 30fps (without it I average 40ish. To get 60 I have to lower some settings, but I don’t mind running it at 30).

But sometimes I get dips into the low 20s for no apparent reason.

What about aa? Try lowering reflections to medium and don’t run anything on ultra, especially lod. Also turn off motion blur and dof.

Also does anyone know what the vsync 2 frames does? 1 frame locks at 60 fps but 2 frames seems to lock at 20 fps, at least in the menu.

The problem is not average FPS. It just dips in weird, not set-piece-heavy places

Yeah, I noticed that too. I suppose that would be an issue with optimization.

Sigh, I was really excited for this game but after reading all the user reviews it seems like I shouldn’t buy it.
