Watch Dogs

Most of the user reviews seem to be fairly garbage backlash against the supposed hype. It’s actually a decent game. It’s certainly not the greatest game ever, but it certainly doesn’t deserve the extreme number of 0 ratings that people give it.

Oh I understand, that youtube video def made me not want to play it though.

AMD talks shit about Nvidia Gameworks and Watch Dogs implementation.

God damn that looks like some shit AMD optimization. Nvidia is calling bullshit, but with stats like that there’s gotta be at least something going on.

EDIT: Looks like benchmarks are all over the place for Watch Dogs, it’s not clear if that one is representative or not.

Wow. So much drama. Well, is the gameplay any good? Is the hacking mechanic well thought-out and interesting? That’s what I wanna know. Graphics Schmaphics as long as it doesn’t look like Super Mario 64. :stuck_out_tongue:

but it does look like supra mayro kratt 3d on all consoles #butthurt #mad #pcmasterrace

In other news, I’m currently downloading the new AMD 14.6 beta drivers, I’ll report back if I don’t get a BSOD upon reboot…

edit: well the results were surprising to say the least [color=’#111222’]spoiler: it runs way better

If you like open world games this one is really fun. I am enjoying the hell out of it.

The driving is a little wonky, it seems like you need an analogue input device for proper acceleration and my keyboard is very I/O. But other than that, I’m loving the game.

It’s challenging where it should be without feeling impossible (I am shit at running from the police, but I eventually lose them most of the time). It keeps throwing different things at me. I’m trying (and so far succeeding) at laying without killing anyone. I haven’t even fired a single shot yet and I’m 6 to 8 hours into the game (my next playthrough I will be death incarnate).

Haters are hating, but the game is fun and looks great on my system. I don’t have any real complaints for it.

At the least there are lots of angles to look at.

As a whole I think it looks really nice and it seems fun. It depends how good the hacking is and how much of the game uses it, because I hear that’s something that isn’t that fun.

E3 2012 vs PC Release

So I suck at graphics and being able to tell the difference between good and bad unless it’s really really obvious (and even then…).

Can someone point out the major issues/downgrades on the release version? Because release looks quite nice a lot, but lots of the comments are saying otherwise.

Edit: Just make that everything pre-club and during the club. I can see the huge differences in lighting post-club (with the rain and lights, smoke, etc).

It doesn’t look as good as it was made to at e3 but by no means is it a remotely bad look game. Computer eats the game though, haven’t had any frame issues which i wasn’t expecting.

One thing that stuck out to me just before he went into the club: individually-modeled light bulbs.

In the club the atmosphere seems darker/grittier ( :stuck_out_tongue: ) in the E3 2012 trailer. Lighting and shadows look a bit better, might just be the slight blurriness of the video softening things though. The guy who made the comparison doesn’t seem to be using TXAA.

Ninemsn office evacuated after Watch Dogs bomb scare

Okay so after a couple more hours playing the game I have to say… my initial impressions were fairly meh at first, but after getting used to the way the game feels and plays (especially after getting used to how the damn driving mechanics work), I find that it can be very fun and rewarding.

The hacking has a surprising amount of depth for something that is essentially a “press Q to be God” button. People are criticizing the game for forcing you to go guns blazing in a lot of places, but I’ve always been able to sneak my way out of/through/around literally every major battle sequence so far. It feels extremely rewarding when I successfully evade an army of enemies trying to kill me when the arena suggests a combat sequence would be the usual go-to approach.

We’ll see if I can continue that streak as the game progresses…

What did they expect would happen?

o_O

There is one substation on south island that I don’t think I can stealth through unless I can get a sticky camera at some point in the game. I am either going to need to knockout everyone around it, or start killing people to get this one location hacked.

Other than that I am loving sneaking past people

And I hate the music selection in cars. I haven’t liked a single song. I just turn off radios now.

it’s not even tessellated… PREORDER CANCELED :rage:

It’s not even just that. Look at how great the explosions look, how you can see individual raindrops during slow motion en-masse. None of that is in Watch Dogs PC. Fucking sad.

I have only done a few story missions. Running around the city cleaning up crime is so much fun though it doesn’t even matter. I was recently trying to clean up a gang operation though, and after taking out the leader got murdered on my way out when all i had to do was survive… Sucks… I’ll get it tomorrow

If you go into slow motion in the release version you can see the individual raindrops. It’s ruined by the retarded effect that’s used when you do it though. I always turn off effects that play during slow motion (like in FEAR and MP3) if possible.
