At the end of opposing Force the Black Mesa Research Facility is destroyed, in Half Life 2 there is Xen fauna everywhere and the Earth is ruled by an evil regime.
So was Gordon Freeman’s plight in Half Life for nothing?
The second episode in a trilogy always ends on a down note in order to raise the stakes in the final conflict for the last episode.
No. His goal wasn’t to prevent the Earth from being overrun by aliens or to save the facility, he was just trying to escape and survive. Obviously he was successful, so it wasn’t for nothing.
But Freeman didn’t escape, he got forced into closing the portal and then he was forced into working for a mysterious guy in a suit
Explain how he is in eastern Europe if he never left (escaped) Black Mesa
But he escaped the facility didnt he?
Well, Black Mesa’s a big place!
I’m not sure if ‘escaped’ is the right word
and he made the vorts a free race… did the aliengrunts still serving his dead master or they are just ‘‘free to kill everybody’’? why can’t I take that question out of mah head?
They probably wanted to kill the humans but the vorts stopped them
I think it was due to Gordon’s plight that the G-man took ultimate interest in him. Gordon’s adventure through Black Mesa saved his life, but thanks to the G-man.
My question is, did the G-man have interest in Gordon before the RC ever took place? Was he aware of Gordon’s potential from the very start and set him up?
He was probably the one who made Gordon do the experiment
After all, why else would he be in Black Mesa
This thread assumes Gordon’s plight ends at the beginning of Half-Life 2. Can’t it all be part of the same plight?
Nothing implies that the G-man made Gordon do anything or knew of his “potential” before the RC. I think the G-man provided the sample to cause the RC, but did not expect Gordon’s survival behind the scenes. Gordon unexpectedly impressed the G-man and perhaps that is what saved Gordon’s life.
I could be wrong, I am not fluent with the entire HL chronicle.
sorry, accidental dbl post
Oh god I lol’d so hard at this.
if you remember in half-life 2 alyx says, that mossman always says that it should have been her in the test chamber that day. And eli says, it should have been her in the test chamber that day but you (gordon)beat her because the ADMINISTRATOR (im guessing g-man) picked you because of your phd (or something like that)
The administrator was Dr. Breen. G-Man didn’t pick you, but he DID pick the Xen crystal sample for any ol’ shmuck in an HEV suit to push in. Lucky us, it’s Gordon Freeman. Oh, and Mossman’s a bitch. I hope she died at that arctic base.
If Gordon hadn’t killed the Nihilanth, most of humanity would probably be dead by the time the Combine arrived.
