Vista vs 7

Hi, I have been wanting to get win 7 for a while, but my parents will not let me get it unless I have 10 solid reasons to get it (as £100 is a lot to spend.)

SO i was just wondering what you all thought about 7 being better than Vista, and if you could all give me 10 different reasons, if you can think of different ones to other people then that is even better.

Torrents are you friends. Sadly, I can’t post them here.

Luckily I got it free with my computer. All it really does is add a few features, remove and rearrange a few features, and it’s prettier to look at.

reasons #1-10: It’s not OSX, XP, Vista, *nix.

Seeing as it is my parents that payed for my PC, they won’t let me put a pirated OS on my PC. And I actually prefer OSX, it is just that it doesn’t have any direct x on it.

7 is a lot better then Vista, it takes up less space, they’ve took away a lot of the pointless features included with Vista, its faster, actually has some fun new features, and the “Sort of” stolen task bar is quite nice too. And from what I’ve gathered its more compatible with alot of hardware and software then Vista

Here are five reasons that might help.

  1. Directx 11

2.Much better OS than Vista

3.Faster then Vista, Not XP

4.Gaming difference: mostly noticable if your upgrading from Vista

5.Packed with new features T.ex Aero Shake,Sticky notes and new themes.

I’d say that it was faster or about the same speed as XP, I could be wrong, but it feels about the same

dammit, I wrote up 10 and then the website crapped out on me.

lemme see if I can remember them, some are a bit of a stretch:

  1. better performance
  2. more secure
  3. better driver support - can run 2 video drivers at once
  4. better networking
  5. libraries - you can organize your stuff better
  6. device stage - custom interfaces for devices you plug in
  7. better taskbar
  8. aero peek, snap, etc - split this up if you need to
  9. rotating wallpapers, better themes, looks nicer?
  10. voice and handwriting recognition is improved
  11. faster to start, shut down, resume, etc
  12. no sidebar - gadgets are more flexible
  13. jump lists are pretty handy
  14. action center - diagnosing system problems & fixing them is easier

7 can run a lot more programs than Vista can.

It’s also one of, if not the most stable version of Windows out.

Vista has directx 11 as well.

It does, but 7 natively supports it, to my knowledge.

I strongly doubt that any reason involving gaming (DX11, gameperformance, etc) will be considered positive by any parents that isn’t a complete twat.

However, what does generally work is: it’s a lot safer, has less viruses and is a lot more stable than XP/Vista. Windows 7 is the master of risk-free computing (and thus will cost less in the long run).

Thanks guys, so far I have 28 reasons :stuck_out_tongue: although some of them might just be the same with different wording :stuck_out_tongue:

7 > Vista

Fun fact:
Your parents won’t give a shit about your 10 reasons unless it benefits them, and not just gaming or whatever.

Okay, three more ‘‘good’’ reasons for your parents then.

  1. Your parents won’t have to see you around the house anymore.

  2. ???

  3. Profit!!!

Jingles tell your parents that this 40 something year old mom of 3 kids and limited money fully endorses Windows 7. Windows 7 is NOT win 95 / win 98 / win xp / and it is instead what vista SHOULD HAVE BEEN. My beloved windows xp died a couple weeks ago and I had to scramble to figure out what to do. RabidMonkey (my bestest bestest friend forever!) gave me an old tower he was not using so that I could get a new puter up and running. My IT neighbor said that while vista was by far the worst OS Mr. Gates ever released, Windows 7 is the best OS system Mr. Gates ever released. Ever. Bar NONE.

Its just more stable is the main thing. Vista crashes on me all the time.

It does cost quite a lot though. I’m not planning on upgrading until I next wipe my computer or something breaks. I can think of much better things to spend £100’s on than a new OP when you still have one that works.

Ha ha ha! Ha… Ha.
