Video Game Heroes; Vote for Freeman!

He’d melee with the crowbar, use the gravity gun to grab and as a over b move, and his final smash would be the gluon gun.
Also, you’d have to include Alyx, who would kick ass with a shotgun and her pistol.

:freeman:
Attack 1: Crowbar
Attack 2: ???
Grab: Dark Energy enhanced Zero Point Energy Field Manipulator (Super Gravity Gun)
Special 1: Long Jump
Special 2: ???

Maybe the devs should make a super smash bro with half life characters only

That idea alone wins 1000 internets. Enjoy!

It’s either that or Black Mesa, make a choice.

You do realize if Gordon gets this round, He’s up with Duke or Link?

and if he get’s that far, he’s most likely going to go up against Mario afterwards.

Yes, say what you need Gordon to do

If he didn`t won i was killing myself

Still, I’m stumped as how a character who pretty much invented the stealth genre lost to Freeman, who, honestly, doesn’t have too much history behind him besides smacking aliens with a crowbar.

And has no face

I agree, how could an obviously non cliched character, who pioneered the every so refined ‘stealth genre’ lose to a character who only redefined the small niche market of the 3d PC shooters. It’s not like it influenced all games that came after it like the Metal Gear games.
:what:

Technically Gordon would get the final smash every time. If he were to have a second special, it would have to be the SPAS-12

I shotgun every cardboard box I see in Hl2 just for the hell of it. I’m 100% sure Snake was in one of them.

Double check. It’s impossible to miss his death scream.

You win over 9000 facepalms. Congratulations.

Not sure why. As I’ve stated earlier, I like both characters, and I love both series nearly equally. I’m glad the outcome came so close. But still, I believe Snake has far more in his book than Freeman in terms of all he’s done, and what he’s dealt with. Of course with Freeman it’s a different story with everyone as what Freeman feels is what you feel, and I personally was never emotionally affected by anything in HL other than Eli’s death, but I can remember countless emotionally-striking moments in the Metal Gear games. I may be speaking too soon as I don’t know how Episode 3 and any further Half-Life games will pan out, but I personally believe Snake to be the “Greater” hero, and from my own personal standpoint, Gordon, no matter how much I love the Half-Life games, just doesn’t come close.

But, moving on, the whole competition will most likely just come down to Mario vs Link anyway.

I just checked the votes today. Freeman is totalling kicking Ryu’s ass!

And @ HH_Kelevra

Half Life redefined the genre of shooter. If it wasn’t for Half Life, many of the shooters you see today would be (note: not all shooters built upon Half Life, but many did) complete bullshit games.

Metal Gear did invent the stealth genre. Thanks to that game, we now have a whole host of stealth games, as well as FPS games who implement stealth aspects. But really, (and I don’t mean to come off as being a Half Life fanboy) Half Life has had far more of an impact than Metal Gear. That’s just my opinion, though.

its funny how far Duke Nukem has gotten, considering… :stuck_out_tongue:
Gordon Freeman vs. Duke Nukem may just bring the house down if that happens. Plus, Freeman making it to the fabled 4 is a victory in my book when obviously he doesn’t stand a chance against mario or link etc.

@Bladex: I know what you mean. Half-Life was, (and arguably still is) a revolutionary game. And for that I’d place the Metal Gear and Half-Life series nearly side-by-side in terms of their quality.

But I’m thinking along the lines of the hero, and not the games as a whole. You see Snake go through all sorts of mental, physical, and emotional stress throughout the entire series, the whole time arguing as to why he’s even doing it in the first place.

With Freeman, everything he sees, does, and hears is through the player’s eyes, and they can interpret it all as they see fit. Now I believe it’s just a personal quirk for me, but I’ve never believed myself to be much of a hero, and even if I did do something worth it, I wouldn’t want the title. This carries over to a lot of the things that I do, games included. So essentially, you’re the hero of Half-Life. ‘Gordon Freeman’ is pretty much just a nickname. But again, due to my nature, I never felt that way.

In Metal Gear, Snake is the hero, and it’s plain obvious what happens to him, what/who he loses and what little he gets in the process. And given the massive amounts of fighting and suffering that Snake did for nearly 20 years (50+ if you count Big Boss) just makes him (in my opinion) more deserving of the title (at the moment)

Also, I think it’s too soon to speak for Freeman since again, I don’t know what will happen in Episode 3, or any further installments. Maybe once I’ve gotten to play those my opinion will switch up, but for now, Snake has the higher ground from my point of view.

Anyway, sorry for insulting your point of view.

Back on topic.

I’m pretty sure Freeman has about ZERO chance against Link and Mario. I mean, he’s awesome. But, unfortunately, Link and Mario are classic characters. Perhaps the HL fans will rally?
