Video Game Graphics (PC vs Consoles)

Medevilae, you are an ignorant motherfucker…

lol que

It makes sense. Crysis looks like photographs on my computer. A photograph slideshow that is.

Someonerandm, your sigg has never made sense to me.

Java, grab a dictionary and search for the following word: Irony.

I gotta say, Crysis 2 has some big problems with it. The texture detail is spiked way up, but the colors and the anti-aliasing and many other things look worse than Crysis 1. But I’m sure this is simply because Crytek is trying to kiss console players asses by only showing console footage of Crysis 2 so the faults in the engine are most likely due to it running on a console.

I still want to see Crysis 2 running maxed on a powerful computer.

Funny fact: Crysis 2 on E3 was actually running off a PC but with the graphical settings of the Xbox.

They don’t want the 10 year olds on the xbox thinking they are getting the crap version.

You guys may whine about it but Crysis 2 will still be the game with the most advanced graphics and feature on all consoles.

Of course you keep conveniently forgetting that it’ll look quite a lot better on PC.

Are you implying my posts aren’t informative?

This thread… is… ALIVE?

They slowed down the game play fort Crysis 2, and, basically, any game today, too much.

I want to play another Doom where I can run 59 KM/h with six different guns in my pocket.

Duke Nukem Forever will do tha- Oh wait never mind Gearbox is full of faggots.

Woops, yeah, I’ll think next time before posting.

I always thought Crysis had amazingly huge textures, but the environments were never that appealing or well-designed visually to me. I think that was why someone was saying Uncharted had the best graphics.

Are you implying the alien level was not incredibly appealing?

The problem with that is, when considering level design it comes to personally opinion. Textures and models have numbers people can slap on them to make it more black and white. Of course playing many games I would much rather have the attention of detail of Half-Life 2 than a higher poly/res hallway followed by a high poly/res field. But it’s difficult to argue which games level design is better.

Via Fraps or external recording?

Also, Crysis has stunning visuals, though if you look at anything up close [trees, rocks, buildings] you can see the small pixels. Though in all honesty, if you’re staring at them long enough, you would probably end up dead.

One thing I noticed on the other spectrum, via Half-Life 2 is that the graphics are most definitely of good flavor and that makes the Hafl-Life 2 line up very enjoyable. It’s replay value it pretty good too, unlike Crysis I must say. I like playing up to the point you start killing aliens over and over, after that it’s just shootemup stuff.

There was something about the aliens that made me want to punch their character designer through the chest.

Do you know how easy it is to make a face?

The human mind interprets faces even where they’re not expected. Two eyes and a mouth are all that matter; it provides a human level of interaction, and lets you interpret that object/item/person/creature as a “character”. Now look at the Crysis aliens.

Where’s the face? This thing just looks like one big amorphous machine. When it shoots me, it’s not “something trying to kill me”, it’s just “a machine that is launching particles at me in an effort to eliminate its target”. I realize the organic part is inside (heck, even that part doesn’t have a face), but even then you’re meant to get the feeling of a one-on-one struggle against something from another world. You don’t get that with this.

I realize it’s technically “realistic” that outer-world aliens would look nothing like humans, but as we’ve all said; realism does not make things good.
