Very low FPS ATI 5770

So yeah, I have this XFX 5770, but wow, nothing is playable.
A TF2 match, 800x600, 10-20 fps… Thats about the FPS I got with my motherboards integrated (700 mb ddr2).

My PC specs are:

  • XFX 5770 (1GB GDDR5)
  • AMD X2 240e (2.8 - 3.4GHz) <<< Maybe this?
  • ASUS M4A78-E Motherboard
  • 2 GB Kingston HyperX RAM
  • 500GB WDG HDD (32MB cache)
  • 750W PSU

I got the latest ATI 10.12 drivers.
I don’t really know what more detail I can give, but you can always ask.

None of that should be giving you 10-20 FPS. Something else is wrong.

Is TF2 the only game that’s giving you low FPS?

did you disable the IGP?

Is your monitor plugged into the IGP or your discrete video card?

I don’t really have any other game to compare to ATM, but what I do remember is that, yes… mostly

Yes

It’s plugged into the 5770

Not such a concrete answer… :stuck_out_tongue:

Run Furmark and post the results.

Hmm, really?

have you already tried to reinstall DirectX, your video drivers and MSVC++ redist?

Format.

1.5k is pretty low for your specs…

I know ati cards use less power than nvidia, but I’d say it’s either a faulty power supply or incompatible motherboard.

It’s recognizing the card fine and the card is running at the full core and mem frequency, so I don’t think its a hardware issue. Unless the video card is faulty, I’m thinking its some software thats hampering performance, like a virus or something. I would do a clean reinstall at this point.

Open your task manager and see if your ram/cpu is being constantly used, also close all open programs before running TF2

Change multi-core rendering and color correction (in TF2) to off if it’s on.

I got the same gpu and i can run tf2 in 5760x1080 resolution no problem. U should too.
But make sure that no youtube or any other flash websites run in the background cuz ati if u do ati underclocks itself to 400mhz/800mhz instead of 850/1200.

jesus christ I hope that’s a dual screen res

triple tbh  running eyefinity setup

I updated my DirectX and when I rebooted, XP didn’t want to start again, so I’m in a “fresh” restart now. I’ll just download the 10.12 drivers for my 5770 then I’ll do another test of this Furmark.

Well I have Gtx 460 768mb just a little better than your card. Did the same test for comparison…

Also goto run >type in dxdiag and run the program see if any problems come up, one thing is do all 5770’s run that hot…?

From what I’ve heard, the 5xxx series of ATi cards is supposed to run cooler and more power efficiently than the new nVidia cards.
