I have seen lot’s of people having issues with the 5770, it seems to be driver related. Try reinstalling drivers, directx and verifying the game cache in steam.
There is also a hotfix for CCC 10.12 which may or may not help. If your still having issues I suggest trying an older driver.

Yes, that’s probably true, however in my experience, nVidia cards give better results. Though I suppose that depends on the card to some extent, my nVidia cards have usually run faster and more smoothly. They are more temperamental though.
nvidia cards seem to live longer, my friend exchanged his HD3870 for a used 8800GT in 2008, then I bought it and im still using it, meanwhile my friend already went through 3 radeons since then.
