Vegetarianism & meat-eating

which one are you ? are you both or one of them ?

and why ?

I’ll start: for me I eat both but since we all know the Vegetarianism is a lot healthier, I eat mainly vegetables. but I hate it when vegetarian people start complaining about meat-eating people and consume animal products beside meat : eggs, milks etc…)

someone even suggested that we should drink “soya<–(spelling?) milk”, no thanks I prefer the real thing.

discuss…

I like both.

Favorite meat: Pork loin

Favorite vegetable: Artichoke

Humans are omnivores. I eat what I want.

I thought we already had a vegetarianism thread in Massdebating. Anyway I don’t think it’s even up for debate that meat production is terrible for the environment, ethically questionable in terms of how the animals are treated, criminally inefficient in terms of resources used (water, grain, corn) per food produced, a breeding ground for novel diseases, salmonella and ‘superbugs’ which develop a tolerance to antibiotics, and somewhat unhealthy over a lifetime of human consumption on top of that.
Consumption is obviously a personal choice (I eat meat occasionally), but I think we’d be an overall healthier society with a “meat tax” just like the cig tax, anti-meat PSA’s on television, etc.

Homo sapiens is omnivorous.

'nuff said.

We evolved as omnivores. We depend on the flesh of other animals for essential proteins and nutriets we cannot synthesize ourselves. Yes, we are meant to eat meat.

Would you rather subsist on synthetic protein? Or do you wanna do it how nature intended and feast on other creatures?

EDIT: And yes, it’s fattier than just eating celery or carrots…but that’s onl;y because your body assumes you are doing the right thing and staying active. Afraid of gaining weight from some meat? Run a little. Convert some of that protein to muscle. There are a multitude of ways to keep fit and eat meat. Don’t worry, your body was BUILT to do so.

And to those who say it’s bnad for animals…yes, it is. Don’t thiunk you are somehow above the rest of the animal kingdom. You must kill animals to eat them. How they are raised is irrelevant. They are low on the evolutionary totem pole. We have a evolved to be a step higher. What’s the problem with raising some for slaughter? Or is it better to kill a deer while it’s walking through the woods with its young in tow and minding its own business.

Tell me how a plant gets to be killed while you fight for animal rights. It’s alright to eat a plant, which CAN’T do anything wrong, but it’s wrong to kill an animal who MIGHT do something wrong? If anything, we should repsect plants more than animals.

If you want to go back to living as a hunter-gatherer like nature intended than more power to you, but I doubt nature intended humans to raise thousands of animals stacked on top of each other for slaughter, while pumping so many hormones and antibiotics into them just so they can survive their living conditions that their waste becomes so toxic it can contaminate local water supplies for hundreds of miles.

I eat both, I do love meat though.

I have been dieing for some pollock lately. :’(

I like eating meat because it is scrumptious, and I like the life-shortening things they inject it with because it is even more so.

The meat industry reminds me of the Strogg. I don’t complain because I think it is very futuristic and interesting.

We aren’t really dependant, simply able. Humans and dogs are actually quite closely related dietary-wise. Both of us are scavengers really, who rely on being able to eat anything we can find. Thus we evolved on a mixed diet because of our environment. Humans however have the advantage of being able to run long distances and the ability to use tools.

You can essential proteins and nutrients from sources other than animal flesh, but for a neolithic human it’s far easier to just kill something and eat it.

You are a self righteous and pretentious idiot, but I’m too tired to properly counter right now. See you tomorrow, jackass!

BUT YOUR BODY WAS BUILT WITH MEAT AS THE INTENDED SOURCE OF PROTEIN

Double post with a needless caps-lock reply. :frowning:

everything in moderation

but of course i’ll always love a good rare steak

Classic “I eat meat therefore anyone who points out the downsides of meat production is dumb. QED.” response. Whatever helps you sleep at night, buddy (apparently its working, lol)

Beans are a good source of protein FYI, but that’s clearly unnatural pagan wizardry.

Our bodies can do with either.

For me, LOTS of veggies and fruit with “some” meat. I used to eat too much meat - WAY too much in terms of what a person actually needs. I am paying for it now. I do as much raw foods as I can get away with.

Tonight’s supper was a small bit of roast pork country steak, cucumber salad, sliced red pepper and tomato, roasted curried onions and oven roasted potato.

We also need various kinds of beans/seeds and grains.

Everything in moderation I suppose.

Awesome ninja edit.

Read my edit up-top for my response to the animal stocakdes and such.

You are an idiot because you think not ordering that porterhouse will somehow change the world and halt animal abuse in the meat industry. You do this for your own self-absorbed sense of morality, that somehow you just righted a terrible injustice because you held off temptation. The only way to change things is to become pushy and force others not to eat meat…and then you get into jackass territory. I’m calling you a jackass in advance.

Classic “I eat veggies therefore anyone who points out the downsides of vegetarianism is an asshole. QED.” response. Whatever helps you sleep at night, buddy (apparently its working, lol)

I do believe that you’re on two different topics here.

I’d throw both of you in the ban box if it were up to me.

I guess cognitive dissonance prevents you from remembering the post where I explain that the conditions meat animals are raised in breeds novel diseases, treatment-resistant superbugs, and decimates the environment.

I’m sorry that posting on-topic makes you uncomfortable…should I post some 4chan memes to make you feel better dawg?
