Valve's Next Game

Haha but VALVe have the element of surprise up their sleeves. Who ever expected L4D2 just a year after L4D. Another mainstream VALVe game is on the cards but which one.

The thing is that L4D was rarely updated, and was a different type of game.

TF2 gets new maps often and constantly has updates, making the need for a new one very small.

Maybe they’ll think of a completely new game… Who ever said they had to update/ make a sequel to one they have released now?

Bought portal a couple of days ago. I’d be happy enough a sequel to that.

I kinda doubt that Portal 2 will be around any time soon… Portal was a fantastic game, and a sequel would have some very big shoes to fill; and knowing Valve, they will not release a sequel that isn’t up to scratch because it would be so overhyped and would fail to deliver so spectacularly…

No, it’ll be a while before we see another Portal; unless we see Portal as part of Ep3, but it will not truly be a second Portal game.

Don’t be so sure, Valve has announced plans for Portal 2 and audition scripts for one of the characters (Cave Johnson) have surfaced. Like you said, I think it will be a while before it’s released.

:frowning: … it’s the aftermath of destroying the citadel in Half-Life 2… they could’ve come up with other names for the episodes, episode 2 could’ve been ‘Resistance’, or they could’ve been the ‘HL2: Aftermath. Pt1-Pt.3’

the episodes name makes no sense… Half Life 2 was already a game, Episode 1 sounds like it’s at the beginning… but it’s not… it’s after the end. This is where it gets confusing. But that’s how it is I guess.

Haha, yeah, Hammich is right, one of my friends who was new to the series played Half-Life 2: Episode 1 first because he thought it was the it came before the rest. :stuck_out_tongue:

I think I heard the suggestion of Aftermath for Episode 1, Outland for Episode 2, and Borealis for Episode 3, which seem as good as any.

And yes, I was a bit confused as to which one came first, since I got them all at once with the Orange Box. Luckily I played HL2 first.

Why would you get confused? Any subtext is a derivative of the original, no matter what it says.

lol hl2 beta names

^ This

It seems obvious to us but it might not be to someone whose native language isn’t english

Yeah, maybe counter-strike 2 or day of defeat 2…who knows?

Looks like it’s either going to be episode 3 or portal 2, this thread is now almost redundant!

There’s a collaborative effort with Crytek and VALVe, who are making Episode 3 in Cryengine 3 with supposedly photorealistic graphics. Yes, there will be huge robots, iron sights, and suit modifications. There may also be a partnership with Rockstar Games to create a free-roaming Half-Life world, much like the Grand Theft Auto series.

“Half-Life 2: lol play this first we promise were not tricking u”

In all honesty, a game like that would be pretty cool, provided you had a machine that can play it perfectly.

But not with episode 3, haha, let episode 3 be awesome AND playable on a laptop, but still look amazing on a powerful beast. Just like what we’ve come to expect from Valve.

Am I the only one that likes to see another Left 4 Dead game? Surely not this year or before the release of Episode 3 but definately in the future.

I really enjoy both L4D games, who knows what Valve comes up with, don’t forget in L4D2 Rochelle mentions in one of the maps that the virus also spread through mammals (that swamp map with the fence around it with dead cows in it) - maybe we’ll see some heavily mutated zombie animals, King Kong gorilla anyone?

Valve released a new achievement for portal where you have to put radios in a certain spots to get this wierd noise(sometimes morse code) Some people say thats a clue for Portal 2 but Idk.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
