Valve: "We are not done with Gordon Freeman's adventures"

Valve’s Doug Lombardi has affirmed in an interview with AusGamer that the company are not done with Mr. Freeman and that fans will see him again. “You will ever see it, yes,” Lombardi began. “We are not done with Gordon Freeman’s adventures. I have nothing other than that to tell you today, but stay tuned.”

Was a lengthy interview between AusGamers and Valve; you can check out the whole thing here: https://www.ausgamers.com/features/read/3037280

So, patiently waiting for this E3 (perhaps Valve reveal something related with Half-Life).
If exist a saga that deserves a future is Half-Life.

It was already obvious, at least to me, that Valve wasn’t even close to being done with Dr. Freeman. After all, the combine aren’t completely gone even if Gordon manages to kill them all.

Chances are things will go bad at the Borealis and something will lead to the Combines’ portal to Earth to reappear. This will probably lead to Gordon having to go to the Combine home world to stop them permanently.

Agreed. All we have to to do is wait, right? RIGHT?

The Wacky Adventures of Garden Pro-Man.

Doug Lombardi is full of suprises… not! Why would they throw away the guy who brought them a real fortune? Trust me, the Half-Life saga will live to see many more years!

Well, if they would just PROVE they aren’t done with it by, oh, I don’t know, making the damn games already, I would believe it. To me, this is just talk.

I think it was pretty much known that they’d be making more Half-Life, if they just ended it with Episode 2 fans would be pretty angry, Especially with that cliff hanger at the end.

So nothing bout Gordon in the near future, that’s what he meant.

looks like its still not getting done in the next couple of years imo

This forum is all about waiting in the end xD

We’ll all be long dead before they write Freeman off, judging by the release time lines.

hmmmm… interesting. TELL ME MORE

waiting makes the result all the more sweet.

or bitter

Knowing Valve, if they don’t announce it this year, then there’s a chance that more time will have passed between Episode 2 and whatever the next Half Life is, then Half Life 1 and 2. But still knowing Valve, they have something big planned for it. My theory is they could be developing Source engine in a way that give better graphics (obviously), but also doesn’t require a much faster PC. While I have been waiting all these years for at least a sign of another Half Life game, I’ll be patient. It’s not like Valve will be leaving anytime soon since they got Steam making money for them.

The Half-Life series do well on the scoreboards, but do they deliver the greens required to fuel the company?

All signs point to yes.

Like I said, it does well on the scoreboard. You’re not factoring in the huge amount of time and resources that are required to make a game like Half-Life 2. As far as I know Valve is funding all their projects themselves, with EA handling the retail.

How much do you think it cost them to make HL1? I doubt it was over a million. At an average price of $20 per game (which I pulled out of my ass) and as of 2008, HL1 has made Valve $186,000,000. That’s just one game. The 2008 average for HL2 is probably $30+, so lets just say it was 30. At roughly 8.5 millions games sold, that’s another $255,000,000 (though I’m sure HL2 cost more than HL1). The expansions and and episodes probably didn’t have as nice of profit margins, but I’m sure they didn’t land them in the red.

LOL

he still has to bang Alyx don’t forget that

“hang in there with us” I heard this 3 years ago

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
