Brothers, unite! And bring forth the baseless speculation!
Half-life 3 confirmed 4shore.
1.10.2013…
1+10+13=24
1998/24=83.25 (Year of HL1 release divided by… 24)
2004/83.25=24 (and a little spare) (Yeah of HL2 release divided by outcome of previous)
24/7=3 (And a little spare, but fuck that) (Outcome divided by years since HL2EP2 release)
HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED.
(Also, holy shit, how did I pull that sort of math magic off? Guess it’s the fact it doesn’t completely fit…)
Thats nice, but I’m more excited for a release date now.
Unfortunately, this could just mean that the firm that handles Valve’s copyrights is just protecting the name in that region. It doesn’t mean that Valve has any plans, or even that Valve requested the copyright.
Still though, it is a tad exciting… I’m not gonna get super excited, however, until I see a trailer. Release dates are fleeting…
If you do nothing with a trademark for a while, you lose it; Valve will either use this for something (ie. HL3) or lose it.
fapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapf :jizz::jizz::jizz::jizz::jizz::jizz::jizz::jizz::jizz::jizz::jizz::jizz::jizz:
OH FUCK YES
" … "
how long is this ‘while’?
I may be wrong here, but I think it’s 6 years without using the trademark and indefinitely when extending a used trademark.
So Valve will have to come up with a video game called Half-Life 3 within the next 6 years.
According to the US Patent office, you get a notification that your trademark is about to expire 6 months in advance. So no, 3-6 months is not correct.
Edit: so yea, it’s 5 to 6 years: https://www.registeringatrademark.com/length-trademark.shtml
Well, at least it’s something solid to hope for. I think this is the best thing we have to grab onto yet.
According to this, that 6 month period is to get it registered. As in: you have 6 months to file a proof of existence (or a concept) to the patent office within 6 months of filing a request. Once that that proof has been filed, the trademark will be registered.
So, if Valve managed to register the trademark for Half-Life 3, it means they have provided proof that Half-Life 3 is a thing and now have 6 years to release the trademarked product to the general public.
So I doubt we’ll be hearing anything HL3 related within the next 6 months.
HL3 sometime in the upcoming 6 years confirmed, YEAH!!!
I’d say it’s less than that, all of those updates etc to all the other games like Team Fortress 2 are all community driven, which leaves Valve a lot of free time… Unexplained free time I might add.
lulz they just secure that trademark just in case, nothing to be excited about IMO
You don’t register trademarks “just in case”.
This registration is a sign that HL3 is coming. Be it soon or within the next 6 years, Valve is working on it and they either have a concept or development build to show for it (or they won’t be able to register this).
Besides, Valve has enough legal means to tackle anyone who tries to register Half-Life 3 before them (which is the reason why nobody has so far).
Valve’s Jira was open again according to Valvetime. The Half-Life 3 group has expanded, there is a new "Half-Life 3 Core"group, and Kelly Bailey is back, and is listed as working on Half-Life 3.
Also, the Left 4 Dead 3 and Source 2 groups have greatly expanded as well…
I’m sorry… but I’m a bit pumped now. However, I’m ready to wait a few years before he hear anyhing from Valve.
All aboard the hype train!
P.S. Valve must really be planning something for 19th November! They just have to!
P.P.S. On that day Half Life turns 15, for those who don’t know.
