Valve at E3 2012

I think he announced Portal 2 for PS3 at E3 2010.

That’s known for almost two weeks. Nothing new.

Portal 2 was announced in March 2010. They announced a surprise for E3 2010 and all websites were like “OMFG; HALF LIFE 3 ANNOUNCEMENT”. All over the internet. And all people flamed, when they announced Portal 2 for PS3 like Maxey said, which in fact, was a surprise. But people were disappointed when it wasn’t Half Life.

The funny thing: Doug Lombardi has told that there won’t be any Half Life announcement, and still, people believed, that they would announce something with Half Life in the title.

That’s what I hate the most. People complain about Valve and call them “Biggest troll company in history”, although the majority of possible Half Life references, teasers and speculations were made by the community. Websites just put Half Life into the headline to gain clicks, they don’t even check the sources anymore. They raise the hopes of fans to crush them afterwards. Valve aren’t even responsible for them, and still, the fans get mad at them.

It’s counter productive to give a full length game “Episode” in its name. I think, if it’s gonna be Episode 3, the maximum price is 20-30 Euro / USD

No, they said that the Portal 2 event was being moved from E3 proper to the Sony event. They actually said very specifically that their E3-timed surprise was Portal 2 related.

No. Announcements. At. E3. There isn’t any wiggle room here.

I think I still remember hearing something about somebody denying Portal 2 but then they announced it. Me or someone else probably got their facts mixed up.

They were denying it because the P2 ARG was all over gaming forums and news sites.

I’m probably a bit late on this, but, Valve says that they’ll be showing “stuff everyone already knows.” :frowning:

Yep, very late. They will only show off Dota 2, CS GO and Steam Big Picture.

Well, we can hope for some sort of hint of hl3 when they will be showing CS go. Ther might be a little hint, even if it’s a lambda sign sprayed on one of the walls in some map, you never know. And speaking of CS go, when it does come out there might be some file of som sort that might be a part of hl3. but that’s not a part of the E3.

There are already plenty of possible Episode 3 references in the files.

But it was also in Alien Swarm when it came out. And as we’ve seen, nothing happened.

True

The leaked/hidden episode three files were really old, still from the time when the game was being worked on.
It’s long gone and Half-Life 3 is in development

and you know this how?

Episode 3 was never cancelled.

Don’t tell me, that you believe in this, just because websites prefer to take the name Half Life 3 instead of Episode 3 to gain more clicks.

They always take any fake news, speculation and fake teasers by the community and make a Half Life 3 news, without any confirmation of the fake stuff, without checking the sources.
That’s why people talk about Valve as “the biggest troll company ever”, although they aren’t even responsible for those fake news. Half Life 3 is made up by journalists and the “fans”.

Half Life 3 has never been announced. There wasn’t even a word by one Valve dev that says, that they are working on it.
I won’t get my hopes up, to get disappointed afterwards.

I listen to what Valve says.

I don’t take websites as a source, but what actually Gabe says and common sense

what the fuck does it even matter? the only difference is that one has “2: Episode” inserted into the title and the other doesn’t

Sure it does matter, an episode is more an expansion.
Half-Life 3 is a brand-new full-fledged title

either way it’s half-life and everyone will play it

Dotard, shortly after Ep. 2 was released, I read somewhere (don’t remember where) that they were going to make Ep. 3 as long as they would make a full retail game.

With the ending of Ep. 2, they wouldn’t scrap the story they were building up to. If anything, they changed the name from “Half-Life 2: Episode 3” to “Half-Life 3” and kept everything else the same.

Stop saying that they scrapped everything from Ep. 3. It’s likely that work on it is on the back burner at this point, but very unlikely that they scrapped it altogether like you keep saying.

I’m not saying they have scrapped episode three story, but episode three … they are trying to figure out how to incorporate it into HL3.
I’m not making things up, if you have followed the latest interviews etc. it’s obvious.
But whatever, I will let you wait for your Ep3 that will never happen

Steam for Linux and several games (at least L4D2) already ported for it!

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
