Valve at E3 2012

I’m pretty sure Gabe just didn’t want the guy to attach a valve to his eyeball, hoping he would be safely locked up in a mental institution by E3 2012.

I honestly don’t see why they should be showing DOTA2 and CSGO at E3. Marketing terms it is overkill, both the games are currently in public beta and rely heavily on word-of-mouth rather than a big marketing campaign, which E3 can be representative of. Not to mention the countless videos already appearing of CSGO.

DOTA2 is for me an interesting project because its Valve taking a different direction than its FPS roots and would be okay if they showed more of it at E3 (But only because I didn’t get access to that beta (I got stuck with CSGO))

tbh if Black Mesa got released on the same day as E3, watch gametrailers traffic drop immensely

I see no problem with them showing what they want to show. If E3 allows it, why not?

this.

they will do what we all want them not to do…showcase hardware and big picture mode.

and i will cry again.

We should not want any info on the next HL game and we might get it.

Speak for yourself. I find their wearable computing initiative much more interesting than Half Life 3.

Not really, no. I’ve been somewhat vocal about it here. I thought the first game was okay but way overrated, and every possible meme from it was overused by people who had no clue what Portal even was. I disliked the unnecessary sequel, aside from the coop. I thought that was well done.

I don’t find either game to be very entertaining. I’m sure we all have games that the general public likes that we can’t stand. I’d be surprised if someone here didn’t.

They won’t announce anything.

They will show off Dota 2 and CS GO and Steam Big Picture. Nothing more.

And this time, the email is real.

Wait, if that email is real, then what happened to the entire “something with a ‘3’ in it” project? It feels like that could be the only thing would be “announced” or maybe even shown off. Whatever the circumstance, I would really like an official announcement of SOB.

Faaaaaake. It’s proven as a complete fake.

So what exactly is this Big Picture feature that Valve is supposedly going to reveal?

I believe it’s just a special UI for use on big TVs that can be controlled with a gamepad.

^Correct.

Which Valve’s games from the last decade were announced at E3? Only L4D2. :stuck_out_tongue:
Oh, and you forgot about “…” in the Gabe’s email. My silly theory: we will know what it is, but we obviously don’t know yet, so Gabe didn’t name it.

Have you seen this?

They had a New Year’s prediction for the release of Half-Life 3 last year and obviously nothing happened. I think it’s yet another troll.

there was no mr frohman after it so it means nothing

Evidently there’s confirmation of no product announcement whatsoever from Valve at E3 this year (Google “Half-Life 3” and look at the last 24 hours of pages). Upsetting news, but perhaps no surprise.

I can’t wait until valve talks about Dota 2 & CS:GO & all news sites cover is how they didn’t say anything about EP3.

Wait. Didn’t Gabe say that there wouldn’t be a Portal 2 at E3 2010? And then he announced Portal 2 at E3 2010? I’m really not sure where to stand on this. Gabe’s done something similar in the past. But of course, maybe he isn’t lying. Honestly, I’m not sure if the Valve community can take anymore of the whole “no communication” thing. I’m very happy that Valve is taking there time (as they should) but it’s at the point now where things are getting way out of hand. Fake websites, game screen shots, t-shirts, logos, etc. It’s sad to see such a loyal and fun community all turn on each other of Half-Life 3. I would also like to add that maybe there won’t be an actual HL3 but maybe another “Half-Life 3” under a different title. Maybe it is actually episode 3 but the length of a full game? I don’t really know at this point. My only hope is that everyone can stay strong and just wait this out.

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
