Yeah, you’re mistaken. This isn’t a national health care bill. It’s reforming the current privatized system to make it slightly less ridiculous.
Um, that’s not socialism…unless you consider the very idea of capitalism to be “socialist”… O_o
By the way, everybody is already paying for everybody’s health in this country…and we’re paying through the nose for crappy service.

I hope it does, if only because most of the people against the bill are people that give us Americans a bad name. Anything that will piss them off would be FAAAAANTASTIC!

I have high hopes for it to pass, but I do agree that (from what I understand) it seems to not do enough. But there is always room for progress if it passes.

It’s really obvious from watching CSPAN, the attitude of the GOP on the House floor is very, very defeated. They are lining up to literally say “I register my opposition to this bill” and then move on to the next guy. 15 minutes left before the vote. It’s going to pass.

That’s not what First World means. We can’t have anymore First World counties. Why? Because First World countries referred to the United States and it’s Allies in the Cold War, Second World was Russia and it’s Allies, and Third World was everybody else. Many Third World countries are relatively poor because they weren’t part of the technological race that took place between NATO and the USSR.

So, I’m listening to the ‘debate’. I see two main arguments:
Democrats: “This bill will help.”
Republicans: “OMFG WE ALL GON’ DIE!!!”

I’ll be thrilled if this passes. I’ll be even more ecstatic if we get real national healthcare any time in the next 20 years. And my head will simply explode if we can even partially emulate the systems that are working beautifully in places like sweden.
A foreign policy that doesn’t make people want to crash airplanes into our buildings would also be nice.
That would be gay and French and socialist and terrorist-loving.
I am majorly facepalming at all the arguments from the Republicans on this “debate”. Scott Garrett (R-NJ) just recently compared the subsidizing of the care of health and well-being of all Americans…with being “forced to buy a car”.
I’m just about ready to cry.
