US Health Care Bill!

Technically, it’s not free. You still have to pay for it. Mostly, it’ll come out of taxes (most people’s taxes won’t go up because of this, it’ll come out of the taxes already paid). Unless, by “free”, you mean that there’s no charge for you coming out of the office.

That’s what the Dems want, but they watered it down to allow the “private sector” an in…and then watered it down even more to exclude government. And the Republicans are ready to start World War III over the “dissolution of the United States”.

Seriously. Let’s get some perspective here, people. All this bill does is require everyone to get health insurance to reduce costs for everyone and subsidize those payments if you can’t afford it. And, yes, you’re required because you can’t choose NOT to live.

Now, let’s get some real reform, eh?

Have you not been reading the posts of people who don’t like the idea? My basic opposition is because I believe that people have the right to do with their money what they want, to an extent, and the health of others at our expense is within that extent.

It’s a very good idea, it’s just that there’s a lot of stupid cunts here who are extremely resistant to change, even if it’s a positive change.

They also don’t want to pay more taxes for health care because it’ll, as John and I have said, “help those useless unemployed people!”, because Americans have shown themselves to be the least generous people of all time.

And lastly, when one well-known person says a word that isn’t “Capitalism” in America, everyone starts droning on and on about it. Yes, the system of health care that the bill’s about is more Socialist than Capitalist, and America was “founded on the system of Capitalism”, so everyone’s afraid of what’s different. It may be a good change, but it’s not Capitalist, therefore it is evil.

Democrats want to eat your babies and stuff.

Psst. American Police departments and fire departments are socialized, not capitalized.

That sounds fine, but there’s only one problem:

We’re already paying for the health of others. And we’re paying an exorbitant cost for it.

Helping people who are incapable of helping themselves or are in situations out of their control (natural disasters) are one thing.

Giving money to someone who has done nothing to deserve someone else’s hard earned money just because “It isn’t fair they don’t have as much” is something else entirely.

Indeed it is, but there are more people working hard who deserve healthcare no matter what, and also those that need it, but can’t afford it, no matter what they try.

Eurmmmm…we’re not giving money to someone who hasn’t earned it?

This is also true, there are people who sit at home loafing around that are on unemployment, disability, and welfare that don’t really need it. I’m very, very well aware that there are people out there that DO need it. And they’re probably in the majority.

So you’re saying someone who dropped out of high school due to their own poor choice, took up drugs, and went dirt broke through their own fault are deserving of all the same privileges as other hard-working citizens who made correct decisions in life?

If you give everyone who doesn’t have healthcare “free” healthcare, all these people will be getting healthcare when they don’t necessarily deserve it.

Just because a few people are freeloading cunts doesn’t mean we should deny everyone coverage.

So, you’re saying that if someone made mistakes previously in life, he should just die in the gutter?

No, I don’t think they are deserving of the same privilegesas hard-working citizens, but there are people out there who are truly disabled, or are trying to find another job, and just need the money to get by until they do. The problem is that people will start collecting unemployment, and never get off of it, because they’re essentially getting money for doing nothing.

:ninja:

Looking at current government run organizations and healthcare plans currently in place (Medicaid) I’m not really seeing why making a larger government run healthcare system is expected to work.

Post Offices, driving test facilities, and other are all extremely inefficient and are all government run.

Obviously the current government run healthcare for the needy isn’t working so how making another one will work is beyond me.

They get “free health care” now. It’s called the ER. You already pay for it, and it’s the most expensive, least efficient way to handle it. That’s what you’re arguing for. Good thing the “debate” is now redundant, because that system is over. Change we can believe in  [COLOR=‘Black’]been waiting a while to say that non-ironically

And having healthcare dictated by insurance companies does work?

Well, someone’s late to the party.

The problem I have is that the person who “took up drugs, and went dirt broke through their own fault” is still going to be burdening the system when he or she needs health care.

Health care is NOT a privilege. No one is more or less deserving of health care, whether it’s the low-down dirty drunk stumbling around on the street or the person who takes so good care of himself that he posts muscle-y pictures of himself on the Black Mesa forums. EVERYONE is deserving of health care.

I agree. Lets Privatize Law Enforcement too, that way you can buy insurance if you want or you’ll have to pay for emergencies yourself. Besides, I’ve never been robbed, but the guy down the street has. So why should we have to pay for the safety of others?

I was so pissed off today when I saw on TV how politicians were saying that the bill is “unconstitutional” because it forces you to have healthcare.
Um… we’re forced to have car insurance. What’s the difference? There is none.

I’m very glad this bill was passed. Why?
My mom is a diabetic. She can’t pay for her own insulin because
A] she’s too sick to work and support me, her child and
B] every private health care provider declines her or asks for a rediculous rate because she is a diabetic, and is a “liability”. why the fuck do u deny healthcare to those who are sick? isnt that missing the point?

Now that this bill is passed her government-funded health insurance should cover her doctor’s appointments, insulin, blood pressure medication, etc.

Now tell me what the hell is wrong with that?
