Unreal Engine 4 is now free

where were u when unity was kill

This is really good news for small developers and people trying to pick up the engine to learn how to use it. Which includes me because I no longer have to depend on the Github student pack.

It’s also apparently horrible news for Unity fanboys [sub](because apparently gaming always has to have some kind of product war where people irrationally love one side but hate the other despite both having merits)[/size][/sub] Because I keep seeing people complain that Unreal Engine being free is either A: going to destroy innovation somehow or B: a cash grab by Epic because they still have the fairly resonable royalties system that they’ve had since they went to a subscription model.

God forbid they ask $500 for every 10k you make for using their tech.

Also, I’m pretty stoked about mods being able to be a thing, now.

Downloaded it and took a quick look around the level editor. Not too shabby!

What kind of reflections are those? I noticed it when I was messing around in the engine. They seem to be a part of quite a few of the materials you can apply to objects. Are they just screen space reflections?

yeah

Honestly its very good idea ,indeed technology has to reach the people beyond social and economic barrier…
With the pass of time every day has a new concept , thoughts etc

I will try this as soon as possible…

Man, and I thought that unreal engine 3 was the best it could get…

Founded in 2004, Leakfree.org became one of the first online communities dedicated to Valve’s Source engine development. It is more famously known for the formation of Black Mesa: Source under the 'Leakfree Modification Team' handle in September 2004.
