UnderRated Games

Notice how this thread has been around for a while and still only has one page, but the “Overrated Games” thread had over 4-pages in the same time span. Most of them are just full of “OMG HALO sux giant nuts sack CoD4 haz bigger penis den gaylo rofl lolz hahahahaaha lololololololololol!!!”

Often countered with “OMG CoD4 sux giant nuts sack HALO haz bigger penis den Cock of Dooy rofl hahahahaaha”.

There are a couple, I do believe. I think there are some for the C64 generation of computers, and maybe one for the PSX.

Wow, I’m surprised about the C64 era one.

What I meant to say was that I wanted to see a Bioware produced game (preferably rpg) based on the Discworld’verse.

It would be cool because it’s Discworld, but a game of it? I don’t think that’d work.

Also, a good underated game series is Monster Hunter. That’s only in the West though: in Japan it’s massive.

A few more of the underappreciated:

-Republic Commando- Fist shanks, just like prison.
-GRAW 2- Kommando time.

Project snowblind. great FPS

trackmania united. excellent online racing game.

In my school, Half-life 2 is EXTREMELY under-rated. about 3 people know what the fucking game is becuase the rest are halo 3 and gears of war and call of duty fan boys.

EDIT: Chronicles of riddick. both of them

Yea the same with here.

There were several Discworld games for PC. Very old, though. The first two were very old, DOS-era games. They were point-and-click puzzle games starring Rincewind (kinda similar to Grim Fandango or the Sam and Max series). There was also a later, very buggy game called Discworld Noir which was a similar style but starred an Ankh-Morpork PI instead of Rincewind.

I problem still have these games kicking around somewhere, although it’d probably be a mission getting them working on a modern OS.

++

Grim Fandango
SS2
Oddworld 1&2
Another World
Flashback
Aquaria
Ico
Dead or Alive 2:
Best Beat-em-up ever! Without stupid 200 button combos and its the only fighter that i know of that has reversal moves. If your fast enough you counter any attack or grapple or even reverse a counter.
Outcast:
Great action adventurer, the AI has aged very well and the OST is the best orchestral OST in games.

I loved the first two but never got around to playing Noir. Is it worth trying to dig up and have a go, for a massive Pratchet fan?

Side-note, I’ve just remembered the genius himself is steadily deteriorating with Alzheimer’s now. That’s such a kick in the nuts and the world will one day be a much more dreary place with no new Discworld books to look forward to. :frowning:

I never got very far in it, my sister owned that one and I’ve never managed to steal it off her. It was very buggy though, the one time I did get the chance to have a go at it, I hit a game-breaking bug as I recall. It was very good up till that point though. Certainly worth a look if you’re a Pratchett fan, but don’t build your hopes up.

Yeah, there is no justice in the world. He’s still got a few left in him yet, though, and we can hardly complain about his output thus far

Were these underrated? Grim Fandango maybe, since it came in when Graphic Adventures were on their way out, but Flashback was huge. It is the biggest selling French game of all time (which does mean something – Alone in the Dark is a French game)

Beyond Good and Evil

Psychonauts
.

Amen to that. By the way, what’s your opinion on Nation?

I thought it was brilliant. One of his best written books, and with so much passion.

Compared to hl1 the second part was overrated in my opinion.

Jagged Alliance 2, Jazz Jackrabbit and Unreal 1 were underrated!

Oh god Unreal 1 was amazing… :rabies:

the hell, were you even here ( earth ) when unreal came out ? It was more overhyped than god.
It was called a fucking revolution, its engine would become one of the most popular ever, and make epic a serius company in the industry.

how can you call that underrated ?

Does Nietzsche make a cameo? If so, I’m in.

who ?;f
But there is a penguin on the roof if that counts.
